Re: Driver's licence health rules to become stricter

They can list as many things as they like. If the process of checking health status remains as it is today (50 Baht paid to a receptionist for a pre-signed form),it won’t make one iota of difference.

Re: Study finds high pesticide levels in local food

Scaremongering reports are required to finance expensive studies. This is pretty serious stuff Big Boy. This research is not a frivolous look into what is your favourite chocolate brand or car colour. We are talking about the expectations of the local people and the safety of their food and ultimat...

Re: MY BEST MATE WAS POISONED IN THAILAND - JONNYS LIVING IN THAILAND VLOGS

It never ceases to amaze me how easily food is blamed for such cases of acute illness while nobody mentions drink. Many communicable diseases, such as Typhoid, Dysentery and Cholera are waterborne and can be consumed in ice cubes or from salads washed in contaminated water. Unless you can isolate th...

Re: Torx driver

I got a set of small Torx bits from T4 upwards at the hardware shop on Soi 88. The kit was quite dusty so I’m not sure they are regularly stocked and also about 300 THB, which I thought was steep. They may have another set or something similar.

Re: Cocktail bars

Red Piano, the restaurant, has just reopened as ‘ACE’ after a refit and appears to be serving cocktails. It’s on Soi Kanjanomai, the small alley on the left as you’re walking towards the Hilton from the main road down to the Centara. I haven’t been yet but used to go to Red Piano a fair bit and foun...

Re: Best Hua Hin tailors?

Photobucket axed my previous picture of the shop mentioned on soi 80 and I never actually made it there. Is this the one? Photo taken January, 2017. Looks like the name is Pornpen Tailor Hua Hin tailor.JPG This is the one I've used for the past five years. Great people and great quality work. They ...

Dont spend money in a country like Thailand what you cannot afford to lose.
Couldn’t agree more, I call this “Rule Number One”!

Caveat emptor.

Agreed. So much of this depends on the agent you choose.

So choose wisely!

Re: Legality of email correspondence

We had an aborted sale on our house earlier in the year for different reasons than above but with a similar outcome: no deal. We, as the seller, had to pay for the legal contract to be drawn-up with our lawyer (Chavalit) and it was a fixed fee agreement for somewhere between 50-60k Baht. The agent, ...

Re: The Digital Surgery

I bought a black and white HP laser printer in Market Village 9 years ago and changed the cartridge for the first time in June this year. Due to the age of my laptop and dying battery I’m considering dispensing with a laptop and buying a new WiFi laser printer and printing from my iPad/iPhone. Any ...

Re: The Digital Surgery

I got sick of ink cartridges drying out, even in the UK, so got a colour laser printer instead. Not too much more outlay than an inkjet, the after-market cassettes are about the same price as an OEM inkjet cartridge. It’s no use for photo printing but that can be taken to a shop who will use a dye s...

Re: Back in the UK after 14 years

Insurance-wise you could look at some of the firms that offer the fitment of a ‘black box’ device to lower your premiums in the first couple of years until you build-up your no claims discount. When I insured my daughter’s car, they offered a 10 month as 12 option so she could build the no claims mo...

Re: Dutchman arrested in Hua Hin for alleged child sex abuse

From what I see in the newspaper, the parents sold a 10 year old boy for sex. It’s not clear what your point is here, does that somehow make it alright? Did I say that? Get a grip. It’s why I asked. I don’t believe you meant to convey that meaning for one second but it is one interpretation of your...

It doesn't make it right, but shouldn't the boy's parents be arrested as well for soliciting the deal?
One would hope so, they are an accessory to a crime.
