Re: Living in Hua Hin on 34k a month

You can exist on 34K but living is another thing. Hopefully that figure has some inflation protection built in somewhere otherwise it will be a downward spiral.

Re: Some tips for long term stay

Unless you have an advanced degree, experience and are connected you won't get a job in an International School where the good salaries are. Language school in Thailand pay peanuts, offer little in the way of teaching resources and support, huge classroom hours (30+/week) and are really businesses p...

Re: Hua Hin weighed down by oversupply of condos and houses

I sold my house 10 months ago and broke even after 8 years. I count myself lucky and I'm happier with my money not tied up thousands of miles away and vulnerable to corruption, incompetence and general b.s.

Corruption is not going to go away. Too many greedsters in position to benefit and too many powerful ones to eradicate it.

Two tables occupied, a falang couple at one and my mate and I at t'other.
Anyway, no real issues and tasty enough to give them another shot though I do believe S&S to be better.

Re: Indian Restaurants

Tried out soi 80 last night and was happy with it though service was uneven, is it because the cook can't do more than one thing at a time? My pal opined the tandoori chicken was just roast chicken painted with tandoor paste, can't comment as I didn't sample it. Large Leo @79 made sense. The key que...

Re: Improving Hua Hin.

Ticket double parking on congested roads. But that would require a gigantic shift away from the "me, me, me" mentality.
Not going to happen.
To their credit Thais don't blast their horns, give the finger or pull out a .38 (well, sometimes).

Re: Soi 88 Food Court

Was there last night, first time and liked it a lot. Nice and clean, no motosais roaring around, no touts or flower sellers, clean and Thai prices.
So what if its not spelled out in English, what can you lose if you choose wrong? 50 baht?
Leo yai and yen @55 baht, can't go wrong. :thumb:

It is very worthwhile to have the Tor.Ror.900 (Tor Ror Gow Roy) which is the application for the building license.
