Bamboo Grove wrote:Thai Rath's facebook page has also the video of the hurt man being carried to the pickup. Underneath they say that the shark species is black eared shark. The name is only a translation from ฉลามหูดำ . I don't know the official name of the shark.

Re: Minivan, bus and road accidents

^^ Set off at 6pm, accident at 9am. 15 hours is a long time on a bus. Couldn't possibly be the same driver that started the trip. Could it?

Re: Looking for an alternative to True

I wonder if True Visions has better security than True Move H, which has been keeping customers' details in unsecured, publicly accessible storage. https://www.khaosod.co.th/special-stories/news_963309 -- in Thai. Re: Tax Residency (bank requirements)

If you want a Thai TIN, just go and apply for one. If you're in Thailand for more than 180 days per year you are considered resident for tax purposes. You should file a tax return every year regardless of whether you have a job, bank account or any income at all. At least that's what they told me. 2...

Re: Govt to ban Songkran water splashing, water guns, alcohol, skimpy clothing - the Songkran 2018 thread

I found a picture of a poster advertising a similar fair at the temple for Chinese New Year, but I don't think it happened and maybe got postponed until now. It would be a bit unusual to have fairs only 2 months apart.

Soi Rai Noon would have been a bit quieter 26 years ago.

@Gregjam, not sure which disused temple you mean, but Wat Petcharawut (sp.), just round the bend at the top of the hill, has a temple fair going on until the end of next week according to the signs I've seen. Nothing like a Thai temple for some quiet contemplation is there?

Re: VPN Recommendations

^^ I don't use a paid VPN service but if I did and I was worried about security and privacy and wanted access to US sites I might be more inclined to want a provider with a virtual US server based in a European country, where privacy and data laws are very strong, rather than a real US server within...

^^ Yes, I've seen it in other countries, where you know you really do need to slow down, or else.

Re: VPN Recommendations

It's possibly worth checking out a few review sites such as tomsguide.com and techradar.co.uk. i used to use VPNs until a few years ago and remember that many would not allow torrenting, and said they kept logs. It seems that most now allow torrenting and many specify no logging. Many even specify t...

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?

The idea of enforcement in Hua Hin seems to involve erecting electronic gantries showing what the speed limit is and showing how fast drivers are going. And only for 2 out of 3 Lanes. Does someone expect some magical change in behaviour?

Re: Typical price of a large beer in HH bars?

^^ Not so subdued in the original smaller food court - difficult to get more than 4 metres away from a loudspeaker. We gave up going there. The new larger one is much better, you can hear yourself talk. More choice of food as well.

Re: Police to ban Songkran water splashing on all main and secondary roads

Preventive measures! The fun bit will be the total disregard of any and all of these rules.
