Re: CR2025 car keyfob batteries

Thanks for the help everyone. Will definitely try the 20 baht shops and I did not know that the fob will work when close to the button without a battery in it.

CR2025 car keyfob batteries

I know there is a small stall in the lower level of Market Village where you can buy a sheet of about eight of these batteries for around 150 baht but as I don’t go there a lot am looking for another source. My wireless key seems to go through them quickly and I like to carry a spare as starting the...

Re: New drivers must take longer theory training

VincentD mentions the behaviour of bikers on big bikes which is not so different from that exhibited by the convoys of big buses that I recently saw on the expressway in Bangkok. The main difference is that in an accident the biker always loses whoever is at fault and bikers are referred to as 'orga...

Re: Thai women second fattest in Asia

Easy access to food has always been there and although the introduction of western style food has probably not helped perhaps other non food relared quality of life improvements are to blame. From the age of about six kids seem to have access to a salaeng or moped so no effort is required to get to ...

Re: Blue Lagoon Hua Hin

So is this an advert, an anti advert or possibly a continuation of your wrath against the Sheraton? Possibly not needed if as you say a reasonable number of the units are unsold after 13 years. Way out of my spending bracket and if I had that money I would be looking for something different anyway. ...

Re: Red plates - just a thought

As the OP I have no objection to earlier posts resurfacing and if any OP's opinion had changed then surely that is their right. I was interested to note that while reference is made to completing the registration process within a month nothing was said about the restrictions that apply to a vehicle ...

Re: Men and their mistresses

Historically it has been very common that men have had mistresses in most countries. Where certain religions permit polygamy this probably reduced its occurrence. A common requirement is that to effectively maintain a mistress the man must have sufficient funds and it goes without saying that money,...

Re: Cars with dashcams get 5-10% discount

Just renewed my truck insurance and as per others posts, a guy came round, photographed outside and in with particular reference to the camera(s). Did get a knowing chuckle when I told him the separate cam was rotatable so that it could focus on potential extortionists at the driver or passenger win...

Re: Blackout curtains and blinds

Thanks for the info J.J.B. I have also been asking around the area and the guard who has been here since the compound was built has indicated the place that supplied the original build. Better to have two options with one recommended than only a single source.

Blackout curtains and blinds

The house I rent has lots of windows and light curtains that are not very effective. Just to make thing more awkward there are blinds in the same material of the type that fold up as they are raised by a continuous plastic chain mechanism using cord attached to the blind. The blind is attached to th...

Re: Govt offers course for women who marry foreigners

Perhaps it is the foreign husbands who should be forced to do a similar course before they are allowed to marry a Thai woman to educate them on the reality they will face and the demands of being a husband to a Thai woman and the demands her family will pressure her with both perceived and actual. M...

Re: Police warn of airport thieves stealing luggage from planes and carousels

In most airports you clear immigration and are waiting at the carousel for your luggage. Very often here it is the opposite which does not help if your luggage is stolen. I have never had the luggage on my trolley checked to verify that it is my own and in one case had to take a bag back to London a...

Which probably means three days without water for most as the job will probably overrun. No doubt the water trucks will be busy next week as those with small tanks get caught out.

Re: Reduce photos size for posting

When I need to reduce photos to send I usually just go to the photo in file manager, right click on the photo and click on send to, click on mail recipient and it offers a size to reduce to. When selected it will create a message with the photo as an attachment. Just drag this back to another folder...

Re: Name calling in Thailand

It is not so much the name but the way it is used. I would say that in more than 99% of occasions when I am referred to as a farang it is not malicious and when it is the word itself is not malicious but rather the comments linked to it. "Sticks and stones...." and all that comes to mind. If you can...
