Re: PEA Online Payment (Electric Bill)

My wife had been trying to call PEA, now and then, for several months. She finally got through today, a Sunday. She learned that payment via the website is no longer supported. No hint of that on the website; you just get the error page. Great job, PEA. On the other hand, they have a mobile app: PEA...

PEA Online Payment (Electric Bill)

A couple of years ago we set up online payment of our electric bill on the PEA website: https://epay.pea.co.th/epay/ This worked fine for a long time, but a few months ago we started getting an HTTP 500 error message: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: java.lang.NullPointerException I've looked arou...

CAT Internet Down?

Our condo (Thew Talay, Cha Am) has Internet from CAT. Normally it is fine, but it has been down now for 24 hours. This is the first time it’s been down that long since we bought the place nearly four years ago. (I run a webcam, so I know when it’s down even if I’m not there.) The front desk says it’...

Re: Why do many expats not bother to learn to read?

Some people just don’t have what it takes. In my life I’ve tried to learn five different languages. I grew up in California and took Spanish in Junior and Senior High and at University. I did well in class, but I’ve never had a conversation with anyone in Spanish. After university I went into the Pe...

Re: Why do many expats not bother to learn to read?

Interesting thread…. Learning to read Thai didn't help me at all. I still can't understand anything I hear. No one can understand anything I say. I started studying Thai in 1996 with the Becker books and tapes. I moved on to Rosetta Stone, which taught me how to read. I moved to Thailand in 2005 and...

"Riviera Thailand"

I wonder if anyone else read the article in yesterday's Bangkok Post entitled "Tourism bonanza earmarked for coastal western provinces" which discusses the "Riviera Thailand" project. The article talks about a 680km road along the coastline. An accompany map shows the road, hugging the coastline...

Re: The Beer Thread

Both Kiss Me Deadly and IPA Honey Bomb have appeared in my local 7-11 (on the P/kasem northbound at Cha Am Soi 54 - Nong Karng). I bought one of each last time I was in the area. (This was at the 7Eleven located where Soi Bo Khem intersects with Petchakasem in Cha Am.) I only drank the Kiss Me Dead...

Re: The Baguette

This is kind of funny. That’s Love Bread on the right. On the left is a vacant townhouse with a big banner with notice of Baguette's new location on the highway. It’s been there ever since the split.

Re: The Baguette

IMHO the bread varieties at both Baguette and Love Bread don't taste that much different from each other. They look different and have different shapes and colors, but the flavor is pretty much the same; rather bland. It's as if they were made in a hurry without giving the dough time to "rest" and t...

Re: The Baguette

I agree about their baguettes being fairly ordinary so like you, I have begun baking my own - this was one of my first attempts 0204667C-8B9D-4796-B617-62E650D47F06.jpeg Care to share your recipe/method? My baguettes are heavier and denser than I'd like. My ordinary sourdough loaves are pretty good...

Re: The Baguette

To add to the confusion: When Baguette Cha Am moved from Narathip to the highway, the former partner opened a nearly identical shop called Aun's Baguette at the old location. There was a dispute over the name, so Aun's Baguette became Love Bread. Not that it matters, but neither of us much like the ...

Re: Ceiling Fans

I wrote to Mr Ken about the three fan failures. Turns out the motors are warrantied for ten years. All I have to do is send the motors to Bangkok and they'll determine if that's the fault. (I happen to have the original receipt.) The remote control is only warrantied for two years, so, if that's the...

Ceiling Fans

When I had my house built in 2007 I installed four Sunlight ceiling fans. Within five years three of the four had failed. (One, miraculously, still spins on.) In 2012 I replaced the three failed units with fans from Mr, Ken. All three of those have now failed. Is there a brand of ceiling fan availab...
