Re: Name calling in Thailand

I'm not trying to make excuses, but some people will be more reserved about trying to use an alien word than others. To some people, your friend's observation was correct. I've done the walk from Hua Hin Temple to the Fishing Pier area a few times recently. Business must be very slow because I've ne...

Re: Name calling in Thailand

With my name, the hilarity comes with it's similarity to the Thai word for having a pee, which is what many use because it's a word they can relate to.

Then there's the Thai ladies who call their boyfriend/husband Dak Ling, supposedly because they can't manage Darling :D .

Re: Caption Competition

This week's competition has now closed.

 Depending upon time zones/pharvey's response time, announcements of this week's results could be considerably delayed. I'm going to be a bit busy over the next 48 hours.

Re: Name calling in Thailand

BB please don't take offence I wasn't calling you in particular a nazi! I was just referring to the very vigilant roles that admins take in keeping threads on topic. Just tongue in cheek. Yes it was a jest, really. Don't worry, I've been called much worse, and people have meant it  I object t...

Re: Name calling in Thailand

When I first started coming here, I was a large Westerner, and all Thais were like short bean poles. Not surprisingly, I was called by a multitude of pet names such as (apologies for my poor attempt at Thai words) pumpoi, wan. Of course, hearing them so much, I enquired what they meant, and found th...

Re: Biggest Benefit to Being Expat

Having been overweight all of my life, I've been called a lot worse than Farang. Fortunately, I'm not so sensitive about name calling. However, this thread is about benefits of being an expat, not name calling. If you want to discuss name calling, why not start a new thread? :offtopic: please. [Edit...

Re: Hua Hin Airport to Operate International Flights by End 2017

I was thinking exactly the same. The Bangkok flight was next to useless for me personally, due to the very late departure, and only one flight per day (can't remember if it was every day). I used it once when there was a lot of Red Shirt disturbance between Hua Hin and Bangkok, but it meant addition...

Guys this is about pies in Hua Hin. It has nothing to do with the history of a pie manufacturer. Please keep this relevant to the manufacture, supply and consumption of pies within the Hua Hin area.

Re: Pies in Hua Hin

Not trying to upset the bias brigade, but it is my belief that there is more steak and kidney in one of the small HHH&B pies than you'd find in a regular sized Fray Bentos pie. Mind you, the crust on a Fray Bentos was to die for :D
