Re: News of the Weird - this just in!

As far as I'm concerned, your Australian cousin talks sense. I think it must be 8 years since I've used Hua Hin beach for the traditional sunbathing/swimming. If we want a beach, it's generally Cha-Am, Suan Son or Ao Manao. Sometimes we might use Had Sai Noi.

Re: Hua Hin Bluport Mall news, events and updates

On another note, it appears Bluport is in trouble. A lot of empty space there now. I'm not a regular visitor to Bluport, but I go there occasionally. Last night was the first time ever that I've seen the store busy with shoppers, as opposed to rubberneckers. We had to buy milk on the way home, and ...

Re: Hua Hin Bluport Mall news, events and updates

That barrier is to keep traffic from heading north along the one way road. Its not about parking at Bluport. It was the Southbound lane that was blocked with a clear arrow pointing left. Is that road one way? I've regularly used it North and South  . I've seen the stretch that passes MV is on...

Re: Hua Hin Bluport Mall news, events and updates

The barrier was on the road just as I approached the Northern side of the shopping mall. I too thought I would carry on to the Southern side. As I said, there were also barriers blocking routes through the car parks as well. It felt like a huge wind up, but of course, it wasn't. I'm sure it's still ...

Re: Hua Hin Bluport Mall news, events and updates

I had cause to make a rare visit to Bluport yesterday evening. I was going from Market Village, so rather than use Petchkasem, loaded with Saturday evening traffic and negotiate 2 u-turns, I opted to go via the back road. Just before Bluport, there was a barrier across the road, directing me to turn...

Re: Caption Competition

Oh cr*p - I did it all yesterday, and posted it. I am assured that my posts go missing because of True :cuss:

 did I edit last week's result instead of quoting it. Give me a few minutes, and I'll get it sorted.

Re: Thais rank low again at English

Obviously, I don't know how the assessments are made, but they have always achieved outstanding grades. I hate to think of the English skills of those who finish below them.

Re: Thais rank low again at English

I would guess it's the no fail scenario within Thailand. I have 2 very Thai granddaughters (one at university) who have excelled at school, and their English grades are excellent, yet I can barely hold a conversation with the eldest, and the youngest is a non-starter. OK, I'm no better at Thai, so I...

Failing that, call into the bus station at the end of Soi 96 - I'm sure they will be able to help you.
