Re: Songkran 2022

Aw, I have to miss another Songkran, darn. Well I did enjoy the crazy activities many years ago, and just threw the T shirt away when I had worn it for the 3 days. On the last day, I seen a small Thai boy with his mom, and gave him my water gun as well, he sure was happy after that. Actually now I j...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

My old 80 year old plus, friend just got back from being in Hua Hin for 2 months. He said that if he did not have his own motorbike, and was able to travel around to get rid of boredom, he would not have enjoyed his stay very much. Only 2 other expats that he knew and talked with were still around. ...

Re: Coronavirus Precautions/News/Updates for Hua Hin/Prachuap

Well I go out to places, like McDonalds and shopping malls, but I still mask up unless I am eating or drinking. Two days ago one of my 80+ year old coffee pals called and he had come to meet with us even though he had been feeling badly that morning, as he thought it was only a cold. His wife phoned...

Re: Covid-19 Omicron Variant

Omicron is still new, but is is still killing people all over the world. Maybe not as many people are dying from it as are dying from the Delta variant, but it is still new, and the data is still being gathered. The COVID cases are spiking in many parts of the world and the hospitals are becoming st...

Restaurants allowed to sell Alcohol

Is it true that restaurants are finally allowed to sell alcohol again?
I hope so as it is about time. I do hope that
some bar will be allowed to open in January as well.
Just my thoughts.

Re: Bars Soi 94

New bars only 1 km from where I stay on Soi 94, is good news, next time I am in Hua Hin, I can leave the
motorcycle parked at my guest house. I do hope that there will be adequate parking for everyone
on the busy nights. TIT though, so I doubt that factor was part of the plans.

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

Correction of my last message, I meant the bars on Soi 88, near the tracks. I still enjoy soi 88 with its bars and pool tables, lost many a game there. Since I usually stay along soi 94, I guess I will not have to go far to get to the new bar area, I just hope it is not too noisy, but the place I st...

Re: Tough action against Hua Hin beach encroachers/demolition of pier restaurants

Wow, seeing that Walk about video, is an eye opener. The place will look a lot different if all the illegal places get torn down. I guess the street can get widened a bit. Lots of fond memories from us old travelers who have been visiting Hua Hin since the 70s. I have had a lot of good meals in many...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

Maybe by December and the hoards of tourists are pouring into Thailand like rain drops the Thai government in their wisdom will finally relax some rules. I have fond memories of having a few drinks quite often at the place in soi 99. and a few places in Binta baht and the other bar street. I hope th...

Re: Astronomy, cosmology and space thread

I enjoyed seeing the people who went into space for 3 days. I guess William Shatner is
going to be on Bezos flight soon. Good for him to actually experience being in apace for real
even if very temporary. Actually I have enjoyed watching the helicopter on Mars the most.

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

My old Canadian friend will likely be back to Hua Hin in December, if the rules and restrictions have become reasonable, his son has a house there. Another friend from Alberta will also be back with his Thai wife as well, because they have a nice house in the south part of Hua Hin. If the Quarantine...

Re: Places to visit in Hua Hin

Wow Big Boy , you sure provided a great list of places to see. As many times as I have visited, and travelled around by motorbike, I have only seen about 50 percent of all those places. I still like some of the beaches south of the City of Hua Hin, as they are usually a bit quieter, and the trip by ...

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

With a wet September, the dams in the area should have enough water for the drier weather in December, when us International tourists try our luck to visit Thailand for our Winter break. My old friend sure is hoping that his hotel is still open and he can get back into the country with a bit less ru...
