Re: Cambodia clamps down on expat visas

The whole phenomena of expats working on-line is a very tricky one. I don't see how or why. What is the problem with someone working online, earning money in another country, and spending it in their chosen one, be it Cambodia or Thailand? Logically the country they're in is benefiting from inbound...

Re: Drones/Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV)

Just out of curiosity, why is a drone safer if it's more than 50m over your head?

Re: Smoking ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches, jail time for offenders

Yes, I don't smoke but after reading this thread yesterday, I was walking along the beach from Khao Takiap to Khao Tao and I didn't particularly notice either anyone smoking or any number of discarded cigarette ends so I'm not sure exactly what the problem is.

Re: Hua Hin's Finest (police in Hua Hin)

I had a local traffic cop around my house at a party last year and he was showing me his limited edition Colt handgun, I looked it up on the internet later and they cost 4,000 dollars in the States. It suggests to me that being a traffic policeman here is quite a lucrative business!

Yes, apparently there were over 30,000 electric cars registered in the US in 1900!

Re: The Beer Thread

In the name of research I had 5-6 tins of Leo last night and this morning feel like a bag of shite. You definitely do not get the same reaction from 3 pints of Spitfire, Tribute, Strongbow or even Stella. Thai lager is pollution - but I will continue my research today! I don't get a hangover with b...

Re: The Beer Thread

Well obviously there are worse but Thai beer has to be up there on the killer chemical hangover list. I was referring in general to western beers. I'm not sure it's not just down to the strength and style of beer because a night on draft continental lager leaves me feeling pretty similar. https://y...

Only breaking the law if they didn't have permission.
Really? I wouldn't fancy one dropping on my head if it malfunctioned
Yes, my thoughts exactly, having permission doesn't seem to reduce the danger by any degree.

Who remembers Christine Keeler and Mandy Rice-pudding? Their clients were 'pillars of society'!!!
A bit before my time but there is a good movie about it with John Hurt.

Re: Drones/Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV)

Earlier this year they were using a large drone to film at the Hua Hin jazz festival which was breaking a few of the laws including operating over a gathering of people.

Re: Population of Hua Hin or anywhere for that matter.

Thanks for trying to help me guys, but it seems there are many different answers to my question. The correct answer is that nobody knows. Yes, I imagine it's the same for anywhere, for example, I live approximately 8 months a year in Luxembourg and 4 in Hua Hin but my registered address is in a vil...

Re: Recommend me a seafood restaurant for Saturday lunch

I tried to find it from the road a few weeks later and struggled to get to it but I suppose it must be down one of those narrow lanes off the main road in Khao Takiap. Yes, it is and signposted, at least it was when I was driven there. It's about 50 yards down. OK, I'll try to get to it again when ...
