Re: Understanding Thai society and behaviour

The me first fits nicely into the Ego category and pretty much matches any other place in the world. Yes, I've worked and lived with people from many different nationalities and they're more similar than different to be honest. Those who want to see anything else generally have an agenda that wants...

Re: Alcohol ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches?

I'm still interested to hear Steve's report from his beach visit today. IMHO the sign that everybody is talking about might have been photoshopped into the picture. The sign legs don't look right for a beach sign, and there's a flash of white above the sign that doesn't look right. I walked from th...

Re: Alcohol ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches?

I didn't see a sign there yesterday but might have been distracted by dead fish, I'll have a look out tomorrow.

Re: Easy fishing in Hua Hin

Has anybody seen an official report about a very bad smell before the fish showed up? I've seen unofficial reports, but nothing official. I ask because I was walking the beach and smelt something awful, while my son who was with me, couldn't; and one of our dogs was very ill. The sea today is full ...

Re: Heavy duty: Airliner’s 94,000 km week

Yes, the 747 cargo aircraft that I help maintain average about 16 hours a day airborne for the first seven years, it then drops due to them being out of service for a month or so whilst a heavy maintenance check is carried out.

Re: Cambodia clamps down on expat visas

The whole phenomena of expats working on-line is a very tricky one. I don't see how or why. What is the problem with someone working online, earning money in another country, and spending it in their chosen one, be it Cambodia or Thailand? Logically the country they're in is benefiting from inbound...

Just out of curiosity, why is a drone safer if it's more than 50m over your head?

Re: Smoking ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches, jail time for offenders

Yes, I don't smoke but after reading this thread yesterday, I was walking along the beach from Khao Takiap to Khao Tao and I didn't particularly notice either anyone smoking or any number of discarded cigarette ends so I'm not sure exactly what the problem is.

Re: Hua Hin's Finest (police in Hua Hin)

I had a local traffic cop around my house at a party last year and he was showing me his limited edition Colt handgun, I looked it up on the internet later and they cost 4,000 dollars in the States. It suggests to me that being a traffic policeman here is quite a lucrative business!

BAD NEWS, I have been informed that bars will be closed on 13th. and also on 24-25-26th. Welcome to Cambodia or Vietnam.

Yes, apparently there were over 30,000 electric cars registered in the US in 1900!
