Re: Thailand to introduce compulsory travel insurance/tourist tax

^34 years ago explains the 1000bt because I remember always paying 500. I also remember that they finally came up with a vending machine for the ticket not long before they got rid of it altogether!

Re: Thailand to introduce compulsory travel insurance/tourist tax

^I can't remember exactly it was supposed to be for but you had to buy a 500bt ticket at a counter and then thirty seconds later, present it to someone else!

Re: Thailand to introduce compulsory travel insurance/tourist tax

The 500bt tax where you had to buy a ticket at the airport finished in early 2007, everything after that has been collected through the airlines.

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

Maybe have somebody else install the panels so that the load on the roof is taken correctly. Maybe have someone else install the panels on the roof so that I don't have to spend my vacation on the roof! Actually, I've thought about going DIY but I'm still doing too much work at work to want to do t...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

Let us know the costs and how the installation goes, Steve. I am still looking into solar....
We're waiting for a quote at the moment, they've already been around to have a look at the property.
I'll be out there next month and hope to have something in progress by then.

Before anyone gets too upset by minimum wages, don't forget it's International Workers day! ( or Labour day, depending on where you are.)

Re: Flights to/from Thailand status, news, and updates

....Numerous food and drink outlets. That's the one thing I missed when Don Muang stopped handling international flights, there used to be some decent pubs there where you could waste an hour or two waiting for your flight. There was that large Bill Bentley place on the mezzanine above the check-in...

If you want to do that on here, it's much easier being pro-EV than anti, you can just post news items!

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

I don't change my car every 3-5 years (neither does my wife), they (cars) are looked after, serviced regularly and will run for years to come. WHY therefore are more and more cars required?
Maybe all those Asians with a whole family on a scooter would like a car as well.

Re: Water tanks

^I just had a read of some translated ads for those DOS tanks with the pump on top and it seems it's purely for space saving and aesthetics.
There is a cover to protect the pump to make it look tidier and I suppose in a small property it could make sense.

Re: Hua Hin water shortage

Mine is underground and measures 8mtr x 4mtr x 2 mtr - no, we've never had a water supply problem :D Wow, that's huge! 64 cubic metres, is that a common size? The houses I've lived in had tanks of only a few thousand litres, and I always thought that was the norm. The tank at my house isn't that bi...
