Re: Big Dog Problem Down 114

My take is that it seems the expats/backpackers are more concerned for these cute little puppies then the Thai people or the issues these animals bring. Its all about save the soi dogs save and yada yada. While the Thai people let them run wild and say we cant afford the snip. Personally I think the...

Re: Should I believe her?

A bit off topic however as far as speaking English the following is my position. Thailand as a country and most Thais are inward looking, care and know next to nothing about the rest of the world. English is not a compulsory language here, even though Thailand is now in ASEAN at the last joint meet...

Re: Should I believe her?

As she is a bar owner and has a run a bar you should ask her for SIn sod where you are a poor expat. As for her word..Zero and even below that for belief. If this is real she will string you along for every baht she can get from sick cow to moped not working and running low on rent. Op still not sur...

Re: Do Thai people have and/or feel a sense of embarrassment?

From what I have seen be it political or personal its more about saving face and being in the position of strength then admitting fault or weakness. That goes from the Hi so student who is failing but will get a passing grade as to not embarrass him or his family to the government rejecting help dur...

Re: Westerners in Thailand : What Went Wrong ?

Did he mention those looking for the beach and a paradise unsoiled by all others? And there is the ones who have been here forever and wish the new expats would stop ruining it for them.

Re: Positive experience in Thailand

We were getting a Air con put into our master bedroom and the electrician who was Thai and was doing the wiring noted the fuse panel was installed wrong(we had been in the house for 3 months) And was improperly grounded. He proceeded to go outside and shut off our power and removed the fuse box and ...

Re: Do Thai people have and/or feel a sense of embarrassment?

I would say saving face is way more important to a Thai person then anything and if embarrassed that is connected to the whole saving Face issue. Lost of status perceived or not from what I have seen is an embarrassment and the whole face saving reaction starts. I guess an example of this is the flo...

Lets Assume - what are people thinking

What say yee mighty Hua Hin folk. There are some who when they see me assume and it bothers me. O.K so I am mid fifties aged male(Canadian but how would they know). It covers a gamut of groups. From the back packers who are rude to the point of blunt when I say good morning at market village to the ...

Re: Is Living Here Difficult for You?

:cuss: I think most if not all go through the stages once in Thailand. The Four phases 1 Honeymoon 2 Negotiation 3 Adjustment 4 Adaption. From the trying to fit in to rebelling and all the moments between to hopefully finding a happy middle ground where things don't drive you to crazy. Its not easy ...

Re: What do you Like/Dislike most About Your Stay in Thailand?

My main dislike in Thailand are Farangs who live here and continually complain about Thai people and the Thai life style. If they don't like the way things are here they should go home! Hey that's another dislike rude and impolite tourists and I dislike the term farang as it is rather negative also...

Re: What do you Like/Dislike most About Your Stay in Thailand?

Dislikes......The critters that come in when it rains but mostly that is referring to the huge spiders and after that is the ants followed by the mozzies. The way some Thai treat their pets be it cats or dogs. The lack of concern in regards to litter/garbage and pollution. How anything not Thai is l...
