Re: Help: Sending UK marriage cert. to Thai embassy in London

I think most people in your situation use a friend or family member in the UK to act as an intermediary. You need to arrange your own postage with the Embassy but I don’t know how it works with registered post.

Re: Supermarkets

Not at the end of town you want, but gourmet market in Bluport is only 5 minutes from Tesco and the 2nd villa market is near San Paulo hospital. I mention this as the two don't always have like for like goods at each store. Great choice of food products, but you need deep pockets Not if you stick t...

I’m guessing that if more drivers sign up then the price will come down.

Not eveyone took notice of the ban on sexual assault. A few lady’s managed to rub that powder stuff onto my private area. Not that I am complaining.

Is the water throwing still going on today? It was fun yesterday but I want to go out and stay dry!

It's the smell of all the riff raff that go there. Blu Port smells of fresh cut roses.

Re: Why do many expats not bother to learn to read?

European languages are easier due to familiarity with alphabet and many similar words and sounds. Unfortunately although the Thai’s have borrowed a lot of words the pronounciation can be quite different. Coke became ko because they leave the hard endings off words. “Would you like it microwaved?” i...

Re: Why do many expats not bother to learn to read?

I beleive everyone is capable of learning Thai (even though I’m still struggling). Everyone knows “sa-wat-dee” instantly without thinking. So why can’t all words be recognised as easily as this? The words need to be embedded into memory and the neural pathways in your brain rewired so you can recall...

Re: Why do many expats not bother to learn to read?

This is what I was told by someone learning to read Thai. But a quick search found these http://www.thai-language.com/ref/irregular-words

Not as bad as English though.

Re: Why do many expats not bother to learn to read?

People have told me that you need to learn to read and write in order to speak Thai but I don’t think you do. The dictionary app I use uses different characters for the sounds such as mʉʉ and ɔ̌ɔ so you can say the words correctly with the correct tones. There are so many exceptions in the Thai writ...

Re: New Hua Hin Immigration office at Bluport

Unlike the main office the Bluport one has a tablet computer feedback questionnaire on each desk. One of the questions is did the officer ask for any bribe. So, they are only handling the very basic stuff.

Re: The best donuts in Hua Hin

The shop in the first post is open and I tried the donuts. They are ok but I think the best ones are either from Bread Talk in bluport or from the soy milk stall opposite 7-11 in Soi 88. They make them fresh each evening.

Re: Hua Hin Bluport Mall news, events and updates

They built a massive shopping mall without planning the road infrastructure around it. That barrier has been blocking the road when i've been past recently and it probably should do as I've been stuck on that small road in a jam where it is too narrow for cars to pass each other.
