Re: Venues will now need licence for playing darts

Here's the list of forbidden activities from the Gambling Act (1935): Well, I've broken the law also with dominos and backgammon. Point 16 puzzle? That puzzles me, too. 1. Lottery A,B 2. Po-pan 3. Po-kam 4. Tua 5. Pad-Kao 6. Jab yi ki 7. Domino 8. Biabok or odd/even or E-Jong 9. Three-card Monte 10....

Re: Venues will now need licence for playing darts

Police visited bars around the Soi 6 strip in the beach resort of Pattaya last week They suspended Pattaya’s amateur darts league - frequented by the city's expats The bars had been allowing patrons to play illegally, police told them, as the city's current entertain...

Venues will now need licence for playing darts

Darts is now seen as gambling and venues will need permits to be able to play. The same must happen to pool tables soon. What next?

Re: OpEd: When farangs go native

IMHO, it is all about the level of your hands. You can wai your students but keep your hands at the level of your chin or below that. With people of your age, unless in restaurants etc. keep them at the level of your nose, then you won't go wrong. If you want to wai monks, then put your hands in fro...

Re: Thailand keeps hunting for 8,000-plus overstaying foreigners

This kind of sentence always makes me sigh:
might possibly have been involved in crimes or any outlawed activities only to smear this country's image in the eye of the international community
The acts of anyone involved in politics in Thailand doesn't smear the country's image?

Yes, Chaoshan in Guangdong. But she say's the Thai Chinese are from all over China. That is naturally true. However, Chinese tend to move to areas where there are people from the same areas as they are from. So the Tae Chiew are the biggest group in Bangkok. Teochew and Hokkien[edit] The Teochews ma...

Re: Biggest Benefit to Being Expat

I know that used to be the case in the late 80's early 90's but I thought the law had been abolished in 1991 or 1992. You had to pay it if you hade been living more than 180 days in the kingdom within a calendar year. You had to go to the tax office near Sanam Luang to do so. I have never heard of i...

Re: Thailand to England move

The night time sounds of Asia are something I really miss, too. I remember from my nights in Guangzhou in 1987, the night time calls of food vendors and the sounds of a night watchman, hitting the times in the early mornings in Bangkok's Asoke-Din Daeng Road in 1989. That's where the names of 1.00-5...
