Re: Heavy crackdown looms on Uber, ride-sharing apps

It is a damn shame that some competition can't be part of the Taxi industry in Thailand. At least Grab and Uber offered some hope of improved standards and integrity amongst local Taxi Operators. Whilst in Bangkok over the weekend went to Central World on Friday night and decided to take a Taxi fro...

Re: Huge trash piles wash up on Koh Talu beaches

Of course the owners at Koh Talu never cared about the huge amount of trash on the island that isn't directly in front of their resort!!

When Steve and Sally went ice fishing not only did the other fisherman laugh at their outfits, but they also laughed at the way they were cutting a hole in the ice.

We are keen to find our own little quiet spot and just chill out.

Colin..
Maybe you should be looking a little further South, possibly somewhere like Bang Saphan?
Yes Bang Saphan is nice, and quiet. A 2 hour drive to Hua Hin, beautiful beaches and blue water.

Re: Clean Hua Hin's beaches movement - Trash Hero

Sorry Spitfire, I disagree with the gist of your post. In Bang Saphan, since I live there, it is also my beach. Yes most Thais, and many falangs, don't care but, as in any "movement" it starts with small steps, and wont happen overnight. Ego trip? nah, the posts Papaya do just ask for any volunteers...

Re: Hua Hin address map?

When we bought our land the seller was going to build his new house about 3/4 km away from us. He told us we have to get a new address since he was taking his. We talked to the post office, the Tessabahn and the Puyai. All agreed he can not do that.

He did.

Re: Rubbish disposal in Hua Hin

Buksida, and I, are well aware of the "hide the garbage" game. No trash collection down by us other than very specific recyclables.

I like to go on weekends and leave it at the Tessabahn, figure they made me have to do it, so be it!!

Any trash bin outside a closed business is fair game

Since this has evolved to a little different than OP started. I never smoked cgs, but started cigars a few years ago. Always aware and work not to bother anyone except in a situation I had in Las Vegas a few years back. I was gambling at a table, smoking my cigar. When I started all at the table sai...
