Re: Termites- eating wood

quote from Aint19 "Thank you guys for sharing the above information about termites.., and also I have a question: How quick do underground termites eat wood..? Please answer me.." Kinda like asking how long is a piece of string Aint19. So many variables such as the species of termite, how many of th...

Re: Thai Food Around the World

I think there are a couple of distinct types of Thai food. There is the formal "royal" style with some regional variations. Typically the ingredients are more complex, contain more meats and the dishes are often served decorated and can take ages to prepare. Then you get the more rural based food. D...

Re: Study finds high pesticide levels in local food

Scaremongering reports are required to finance expensive studies. This is pretty serious stuff Big Boy. This research is not a frivolous look into what is your favourite chocolate brand or car colour. We are talking about the expectations of the local people and the safety of their food and ultimat...

Re: Study finds high pesticide levels in local food

Sorry PeteC, Washing fruit and vege does nothing towards removing contaminants absorbed into the produce thru the growing period. At best you may wash away dirt , a practice you should follow anyway when preparing food. Even if there was an instant reversal in the current practices contamination of ...

Re: CR2025 car keyfob batteries

when I was working with Citizen watches they tested out many brands of these batteries. Maxell were the top performers. hardly any of the Chinese ones passed the 3 volt test, let alone the under load tests. Seizaiken came up well and are usually sold off at a lower price point and tend to be more av...

Re: The best pharmacy in Hua Hin?

Many pharmaceutical products require constant storing at or below a certain temperature ( most seem to be 25 deg c) so the pharmacies in the larger malls could be a safer bet than the local corner ones especially if your meds are temp sensitive. One small shop in Cha-Am I have used for basics rarely...

Re: Thai women second fattest in Asia

Cost cutting in the food game has led to sugar being the main cheap food flavour enhancer ahead of salt even. It "patches up " so many dishes that it has become the norm for Thais. Bring back the onions and the garlic, bring back the coconut cream, and not the plain old dull cheaper coconut milk (he...

Re: Tips for recycling and reducing plastic use in Thailand

The Thais must be some of the worst offenders when it comes to unnecessary packaging . Often get a bewildered look from them when I tell them I don't need that plastic bag . Going back a bit, I think it may have started off as some kind of status thing whereby you were obviously better off if you ca...

Re: Understanding Thai society and behaviour

Sad to say I think this study by Khun Suntaree is flawed.
Nowhere could I see any mention of FOOD. Everyone who has spent time with Thais soon realizes that food is the foundation to all of Thai culture.
