Re: Our Car Memories
First car I bought was a 1963 Morris 1000, the week I turned 17 in late 1972. It cost me £10, plus another £15 for welding and an MOT. I passed my test in it in 73, then sold it to a mate and bought a 1966 (FSN 154D) MK1 1500GT Cortina for £125. I drove that for most of 1973 and into 74 until anothe...

Re: British classic cars in Hua Hin
Bought the Escort in Bangkok, pretty much as it looks in the pic.
Had the Cortina built from a good bodied runner, but threw just about everything away except the shell.
Cortina came from Petchburi area.

Re: British classic cars in Hua Hin
Just saw this post while looking back for something else.
I've got a Mk1 Escort and a Mk2 Cortina.
Can't post pics because I was only familiar with Imageshack and Tinypic and they appear to be defunct nowadays.

Re: FedEx now have office in Hua Hin
Almost certainly it's a franchise. The guy who answers the local number organises a driver to come to your home to pick up your parcel(s). It wasn't a FedEx liveried van and the driver wore no uniform or anything to suggest he was a Fedex employee. He does give you an official FedEx mailing receipt ...

Re: FedEx now have office in Hua Hin
Update for that FedEx number in Hua Hin. You need to dial 1782 which puts you through to Fedex's main office. You make an appointment, tell them what you are sending, they give you a price, and if all is well, they will call the courier and he comes round and picks it up from your address at an agre...

Re: Problem downloading GPS map
I paid 1500 baht or so to Garmin for lifetime updates. First time I updated it placed the car about 200m off the road I was travelling on. Looked like I was driving through fields. I ended up taking the Satnav to Garmin in Bangkok who fixed it for me.

Re: Car Insurance
I have also heard a story of a man who bought a new car on finance. The car came with 'free insurance' at the time of purchase. I can't remember the exact numbers involved but let's say the car was 1.2M. He paid 50% deposit and financed the other 600k. Before the car was one year old it was involved...

Re: Importing a classic car from UK
Despite all the gloom and doom on here, sometimes the figures do add up and make it worthwhile albeit expensive. My example, and I was quoted on this by a law firm about two years ago. I can't remember the exact numbers now but this info is fairly close. I'll do it in £'s. I have a 2001 996 Carrera ...

Re: Importing a classic car from UK
Have to agree with the overall sentiment here. When I first moved here about 14 years ago, I started making inquiries about bringing my mint condition 1975 Porsche 928 over. Those efforts didn't last long though when I found out all the red tape and horrendous costs involved. As another poster said...

Re: Hua Hin Classic Cars, Nov 28-30 '14 with Early Photos
Great pics. Red 246 Dino Ferrari. I knew a bloke who paid £1200 for one of those in 1973 because it had a bash in the front panel and bonnet. Probably £150-£200k nowadays. Light blue Ford Mustang looking good. Gullwing Merc is a legend. So much so that Mercedes relaunched an updated version a few ye...
