Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

"All of the components are readily available in Thailand at Thai prices, if you send your mrs". As with a lot of things, make sure you're buying the genuine article.....particularly with panels. There are many wholesalers who buy a cheap crap panel and slap a 'Longi' sticker on it. Longi h...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

Yes, the 'on-Grid' or 'Grid tied' inverters, stop/cut out, when the power grid is lost. This is intentional and is purely for safety reasons. Ah, no, it is nothing to do with safety. To operate, an inverter of any flavour, needs a reference frequency. Grid tied inverters get their reference from th...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

That posted article does not really make it clear: without a battery bank the invertor is called a "grid tied" inverter, regardless of whether or not it is a hybrid. It is called "grid tied" because it cannot function without a connection to the Thai power grid, PEA or MEA. The ...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

Here's my take on payback.....although, I will outline why I think it is not really something to be considered at the end of the explanation. Solar systems and why the payback time is a lot shorter than you might think. These days prices have dropped dramatically. Typically, a residential system wit...

Re: Doctors warn of hot summer heatstrokes

I'm lucky enough to have solar power in my house so I don't worry about having 3 or 4 air conditioners running all day. It's just too hot this year.

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?

Traffic police (sitting in their little huts changing traffic lights) are members of the local constabulary, specially trained in traffic law (sarcasm) and with a white armband on their otherwise usual uniforms. That made me smile and brought back memories. When I lived in Korat, the police would e...

Re: Looking For New Tablet

I have an IPad 9th generation, Model number MK2K3FD/A which is sitting around gathering dust.
I bought it for a job that required an apple device, but have hardly used it (I'm not an apple fan).
It cost me 300 quid......would let it go for 200 quid.

Re: Thailand fuel/pump prices

It was bound to happen sooner or later - the country is broke and can’t afford to keep on providing subsidies, but of course you’re right that they’ll be protests and prices will rise Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Absolutely, and electricity prices are due to follow suit. Not looking good.

I'm assuming those of us with Solar Power don't need to do this?
Big Boy wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2024 7:21 pm After seeing this month's leccy bill, I think we should have one of these every day.
A solar setup can help you with this if you'd like to PM me? :D
