Re: Electric Cars

Lindosfan I never wrote that it was simply a paste from one of many sites talking of future transport. Now probably this will not affect you in your lifetime or mine but things change like it or not, the family car had all manner of uses shopping being just one. But that is also changing as can be s...

Re: Electric Cars

I would disagree, If you consider cars are parked up all day around london clogging the streets if as normal the car parks are full. Banning technology would of course be stupid in the long term otherwise we would all still be driving model t Fords. As I said there are already huge leaps in technolo...

Re: Electric Cars

Revenue from fuel tax in the uk last year was 28.4 billion pounds so the goverment have to make up that shortfall. I would expect this is why new vehicles from 2022 must be fitted with electronic data recording. And just maybe why they scrapped the tax disc, there has long been talk of charging moto...

Re: Electric Cars

I honestly don't think it will even take 20 yrs at the pace technology is going at present, Tesla and others already have autonomous vehicles. Trucks and cars in the uk already have lane control and anti collision sensors, you can now sit in your vehicle on cruise and it will slow down and speed up ...

Re: Electric Cars

Knew I would find it somewhere! All new cars sold in the UK and Europe are to be fitted with devices to automatically stop drivers exceeding the speed limit under sweeping changes to vehicle safety rules that the EU has provisionally agreed. Although Britain may no longer be part of the EU when the ...

Re: Electric Cars

There was an interesting programme I watched back in the uk, they predicted that in less than 20 yrs there will only be around 4-5 car manufactures left due to a new age in motoring. (ie battery) The programme said that due to the cost or servicing replacing batteries that ownership will fall dramat...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

The visa situation is definitely a factor, I was in the hull consulate in September and some people were far from happy with the requirements for a 2 or even worse 3 month visa. One couple said to the visa staff member that this would be their last visit due to stupid requirements for a 3 month visa...

Re: Agency mulls car demolition perks

This scheme was also used in the uk, think it was called the scrappage scheme. As long as your name was in the registration document for at least one year you were eligible for the scheme which gave you a discount on a new car. Sadly many classic cars ended up in the scheme, personally I think it wa...

Re: Flights Thai vs Emirates

At first I gulped at those prices but of course that's for 2pax, unusual for ba to be cheaper but maybe due to booking and flying from bkk first. I pay around £1800 lhr-dxb-bkk on Emirates but also get the air miles, not extravagant but I gave up smoking 30 a day costing me over £100 per week in the...

Re: Flights Thai vs Emirates

Emirates are very good and I use them whenever I fly if possible, only thing is the ryanair factor that pisses me off. There are 4 fares for economy from special to flexi plus. And of course you baggage allowance depends on which one you choose, but I believe special fare is only 15kilo. They have n...

Re: Why Did You Choose Hua Hin?

I came to hua hin on a 2 week holiday and stayed at what was then the royal garden hotel, while here I saw the tuk tuks which were much bigger than the bangkok ones and had daihatsu car engines. Decided to make an export 2 for sva test in uk and the rest is history, sadly the place is not the same a...

Re: Traffic Lights Help or Hindrance/Safety or Inconvenience?

In the uk traffic lights have become a nightmare, it seems now that every motorway junction has had lights installed which in turn causes tailbacks down the slip roads. The worst one I have come across is at the end of parkway in Peterborough, they spent a fortune enlarging the roundabout then insta...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

I flew Lhr-Dxb-bkk 1st october The flight from London to dubai was full, but the second leg dubai to Bangkok was very quiet. This is really strange as in dubai all the connecting flights meet up which normally means the Bangkok leg is reasonably full. Went down binta thurs night and was surprised ju...
