Re: Small but growing cigar factory in Esteli Nicaragua.
Thanks for the video – very interesting.
Wish there was a factory like that here in Thailand.
Unfortunately, the import rules here make smoking quality cigars a luxury reserved for the wealthy.

Re: Songkran 2024 Road Accidents
Can you imagine trying to track all of the costs involved - technically I’m sure it’s feasible but practically it would be nearly impossible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Don’t the public hospitals track costs/expenditures/procedures………. There doesn't seem to be any problem calculating exactl...

Re: Songkran 2024 Road Accidents
A figure I never see is how much does it cost to treat all those who are injured from highway accidents. Many injured will require extensive health care treatment…….

I’ve been closely watching wine prices and have noticed no difference – still ridiculously expensive.

Re: Thai law prohibits foreigners from driving passengers.
I don’t see this crackdown on drivers helping to increase tourism.
I would wager that many western tourists prefer to have someone from their home country driving them around. If nothing else, because of all the horrible van accidents……..

Re: Another alcohol clampdown
So, you go to a restaurant for dinner and decide to spend a small fortune for a halfway decent bottle of wine. And, when the server brings the bottle to your table instead of showing you the wine’s label, they will now show you a disgusting picture.
Things are getting ridiculous…..

We now have them – wild roosters – in our area of North Cha-Am. This has happened in the last year or so.

Re: Photo Trip Report: South Korea
Thanks for the pictures of Korea – they brought back good memories. I lived and worked there from 2008-2015. Your pictures of the entrance to Texas Street also brought back some memories. In a prior life, when I first saw the Texas Street area back in the early seventies, I remember muddy roads. Dur...

I have a question.
Is this new private forum intended to replace the public forum?
I thought the intent of the contributions was to keep the current forum active.

I probably would contribute – as long as it is simple to pay.

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
I renewed my retirement extension in June at the new Cha Am office.
My picture had a white background.
I did not need any type of medical certificate.
No arrival/departure card was needed.
You can read what I submitted here.

Re: Smaller hotels struggling to cope with increasing costs
Based on the research we did, below is a summary of what we found – were told. The Hotel Act states that any residential premises open to the public for rent with no more than four rooms on all floors in aggregate whether in a single building or several buildings and with a total service capacity of...

Re: Smaller hotels struggling to cope with increasing costs
When these hotels/party houses first started appearing, neighbors and us talked with the police. The police said there is nothing they can do - because no license is required - until 10:00 pm, and then that involves a noise complaint. After 10 you can call, and then it is wait and see if someone sho...

I just returned from the Makro in Cha-Am and it had a pretty good stock of milk – particularly Meiji 0%, which we like to use.
