Re: Registering a Marriage with The British Embassy

The agency has also spent over 60% of its 100 billion baht budget for water management in fiscal year 2018.
Now there's a surprise!

Re: Registering a Marriage with The British Embassy

You are correct in your first assumption. A marriage here is equally valid in the UK. There is no need to register it at the embassy, if indeed you are able. When I got married 'all those years ago', we then lived in the uk for 7 or 8 years. No problems whatsoever regarding marital status. I was mar...

Re: Govt crackdown on Airbnb, declares bookings illegal

The main ruling applies to short term rentals, regardless of whether it is BNB or someone else. Whilst only condos have been mentioned so far, I wonder if this also applies to houses. If it does apply to houses, this could be the way to close down party houses, which would be a good result. Illegal...

Virtually impossible. 7 steps to go through. Inspection of safety regulations, dedicated hotel manager etc etc.

Well at least my daughter got her picture spread around the net! She was one of the dancers ---- "Boring but I get paid!" --her words.

Isn't Singkhon and Hua Hin immigration the same outfit. It certainly used to be the case. i.e. Hua Hin immigration was an outpost of Singkhon.

And these local authorities will have the power of arrest. If so, just another door for corruption.

Does anyone have the address for the Ministry of Silly Walks in Bangkok??

Police said it looks like he went out swimming alone and possibly suffered cramp or a seizure.
The assumption of the authorities (police) never cease to amaze me. It's reported that the guy was clothed and without any forethought the police assume he went swimming and got cramp!!

not the useless BKB atm card. Not sure I understand that. My Bkk bank debit card works pretty much anywhere. Uk, Malaysia, Cambodia...... I may have jumped in without thinking there. Of course unless you've already got a Bkk bank debit card, the new ones issued are the unionpay cards which I agree ...

Re: Banking in HH

If you need to do business back in your home country using a debit card, make sure it is either a Visa or Mastercard. That knocks BKK out of the running. They switched to a Union Pay card. Funny how that just came up. I was going to do a search. I read that current debit cards (visa) from BKK bank ...

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?

Yeh, double lines, single lines, solid vs dotted, box junctions, roundabouts, Give Way signs, 'no stopping', 'no parking, etc etc. Thailand would save millions if they never put up another road sign and never painted road markings. Nothing would change. Driving 'same same'.
