"Always wanted to visit Thailand? We have some bad news It’s said we can’t have too much of a good thing, but when it comes to tourism, it looks like we actually can. Re: Thailand 'least miserable' country on Earth

I read a study recently that found Finland had the happiest people on earth. Wouldn't that equate to the "least miserable"?

Centuries in the making: Will Thailand build a 100km canal?

"If Thailand's canal is ever built, it won't be the world's longest, but it surely will claim to have had the longest gestation period. The idea of building a shipping lane from one side of the country to the other, linking the Gulf of Thailand, or Gulf of Siam as it was known at the time, with the ...

Re: Hope You Have Insurance or Plenty of Cash

I just spent 3 days in BKK hospital in BKK for an urgent operation to remove my Thyroid. Bill came to over 313,000 baht. Fortunately it is something the US Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible to pay for as its a repeat of a medical problem I had while in the military. If it had been almos...

Re: Best of the Rest of the World

I went fishing this morning but after a short time I ran out of worms. Then I saw a cottonmouth with a frog in his mouth. Frogs are good bass bait. Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait bucket. Now the ...

Re: Instant Messaging

Most of my family and friends use Line and I try to get the ones who don't currently to use it. We think it's the best for texts, video calls, and sending photos. Works with phone service and over wifi.

Re: The Beer Thread

In my 20's we drank beer mixed with tomato juice a lot. It was good for midday when you didn't want to get buzzed and seemed to be a good "hair of the dog" for hangovers. Bartenders made it; some called it a red beer and some a bloody beer. It was actually pretty good. I wouldn't do it to a good be...

We celebrated many anniversaries at Supatra By the Sea in Takiab. My wife always loved the food and the view. Some, if not most nights they have soft live dinner music as well.

Re: Hua Hin parking

Ah, parking in Hua Hin. Probably my second biggest problem with living in Thailand behind the climate. The two are related of course because I don't mind parking far from something and walking if I'm not completely soaked in sweat by the time I get there. I now frequently park in the far end of a hu...
