Re: MY BEST MATE WAS POISONED IN THAILAND - JONNYS LIVING IN THAILAND VLOGS

Hmm, since it's in Foo, shall we turn this silly thread into an "Embarrassing illnesses I've had" thread? I spent a couple of years in Pakistan back in the 80s. I had a great time (perhaps surprisingly), but while there I managed to get amoebic dysentery. Not a pleasant experience, but a very good w...

Re: Help identifying this pool filter

Thanks all. It turns out that this was simply a filter with ballast to keep it submerged.
(I put it in Foo as it was completely unrelated to Thailand).

Re: Help identifying this pool filter

Can't help you with further details, I'm afraid. It's not me, but I'm asking on his behalf. I had an idea you'd pop up with an answer!
The verb 'lester' means to ballast, if that helps.

Can any of you technical chaps give me the English name for this part? It is in an instruction manual for a sodium hypochlorite generator for swimming pools. In French, it is a filtre lesteur.

... the sounds of a night watchman, hitting the times in the early mornings in Bangkok's Asoke-Din Daeng Road in 1989. That's where the names of 1.00-5.00 A.M. come to Thai language i.e. tii nueng, tii soong, etc. And the evening 'tum' hours being a deeper tone struck on a drum, so I was told. One ...

Re: Thailand to England move

Best to go back in the summer and have a chance to get used to the change to cold weather, IMHO. Good advice, though I think you've already thought of that as you're going in July, aren't you? I came back in early May, partly for that same reason, but even then the temperature (mid teens) was a bit...

And of course if they haven't sold in a day or two, you just put the price up 20%!

Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin

I went to S&S several times some years ago, when there was less choice for Indian food, and I have to be honest and say that I wasn't particularly impressed. The place itself is a bit of a hole, the prices were ok, the service was ok, and the food was ok, but the sauces were pretty generic. Pretty a...

Re: The Pros & Cons of Using Aircon

You maybe correct, but did you try suffering for a couple of days with just a fan? It's so easy to push the on button for the aircon, and one I couldn't resist for over 5 years. When I actually tried it, I didn't have a problem. That's my point in a nutshell, really - everyone's situation is differ...
