Re: Avocados
Just after the market branch of Kasikorn Bank there is a stall selling only avocados. Haas are around 150 per kilo. I buy often from her and she knows how ripe they are, one, two, three days etc. Helps if you speak Thai.

Automated Departure at Suvarnabhumi
I don't know if this is actually up and running but I do not fancy leaving without an exit stamp.
I presume by "E passport" they mean one with a chip?

Re: Tickets and booking trains from Hua Hin
State Railways Thailand website says you can book online. I have never used it or know anybody who has so successfully.
Here's the link, you should get some info from it

Re: Just HOW are folk going to get to the new rail station?
You can walk along the platform of the old Station and there is a (by Thai standards) fairly easily negotiable crossing with concrete slabs between the tracks. It is by the portacabins to the South of the Cafe.

Re: Just HOW are folk going to get to the new rail station?
I've just been there, access via the old Station for now. Had a walk around, you can't go up to the platforms and no sign of a Train arrival today. Looks like there is a tunnel, entry via the peculiar structure at the top of Soi 80. Things are starting to happen....slowly.

Re: Visa run to Phu Nam Ron open?
Taking the Sleeper train via Hat Yai down to Padang Besar at the Malaysian Border was an old favourite. I used to continue on to Butterworth / Penang as I have friends there. I haven't done that since covid so not up to date with current times etc. Also, it's best to check up on Sepparist activity i...

Re: Visa run to Phu Nam Ron open?
I don't think Ban Phu Nam Ron is open to foreigners. There has been Burmese army activity in that area. A friend went to Three Pagoda pass yesterday and that was closed. You could ask the "Visa Run" office at Condochain (if they are still open) think there phone number is 091 821 4826 or 0...

Re: Pies in Hua Hin
Yes, I buy pies from " Mr Grumpy". Barry has been in Hua Hin for over 25years and ran Victoria which served the biggest and best breakfast Hua Hin has ever seen.
Sadly he's very ill and confined to bed these days but his good lady still makes a range of pies which are good and well priced.

Re: Holiday insurance
I needed medical insurance for my non-O 90 day visa. AA Insurance Hua Hin, who are often recommended on this forum were cheaper than quotes I was getting in London.
They were quick and efficient. Mine is medical only but they may have a full holiday policy.

Greek Restaurants in Hua Hin
Hello, does anyone know if the Greek Restaurant that used to be on Naresdamri, opposite the Brasserie de Paris, has relocated anywhere? I guess that the steak restaurant that is now on that site could well belong to the same person, Andreas I think he was called. I think he had a few businesses in t...

Re: Photo Trip Report: England and Scotland
Lovely photos thank you, a lot of memories for me. I grew up in Sheffield and often enjoyed a weekend run out on my old Triumph twin along the Hope valley through; Hathersage, Hope and Castleton then up Winnats Pass to the Cafe near Speedwell Cavern (that's the one with the boats). Good walking coun...

Re: Post legend Bernard Trink dies at 89
Fond memories indeed. The Trink page in it's heyday was compulsive reading and a source of discussion amongst the (much smaller) ex-pat community.
I didn't know he was still around, 89 is not a bad innings.
Farewell Bernard Trink
