Re: Hua Hin Recycling Facility

I would imagine any of the recycling businesses would take it. They just separate and sell on the product. As far as I know there are no actual recycling facilities in Hua Hin.

Re: Charging for plastic bags in Thailand?

What I don't understand is why the municipality will not even put some large recycling bins in town, it is so easy, but that would mean they have to make an effort, something Thais are not used to.

Putting something like this would make it exciting for kids and get them involved.

I have bought in Hua Hin. But I have bought a home not an investment.
It's a home until circumstances dictate you have to sell.

Re: Charging for plastic bags in Thailand?

The present PM recently said they could not implement laws restricting the use of plastic bags as the people would not like it . What a stupid comment by the PM. There's a very long list of laws that 'the people don't like'. Should they be repealed? Well they are not enforced so it's just the same ...

Re: Books

I would recommend a book by award winning journalist Steve Coll - The Bin Ladens: Oil, Money, Terrorism and the Secret Saudi World. Not an easy book to read but what an eye opener. How the Bin Laden family came from nothing to be one of the biggest construction companies in the world and also how co...

Re: Charging for plastic bags in Thailand?

But we come back to the same old, same old--Its not passing laws or a govt decree, thats easy --its ENFORCEMENT. Of course that is the all important word, however in Thailand there does not even appear to be laws concerning this. The government will take no action. The present PM recently said they...

Re: Charging for plastic bags in Thailand?

If there was ever a video that showed how necessary and urgent it is to not charge but ban plastic bags, bottles etc. then this is it. Just thank god and the currents that it is not in our gulf. http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-41866046/the-giant-mass-of-plastic-waste-taking-over-the-caribbean. Hmmm...

Re: House market in Hua Hin

There is massive oversupply of houses and condo's in Hua Hin. Thailand does not seem to understand there needs to be a link between buyers and sellers so they just keep on building. Whether this is because of tax breaks or whatever who can tell. Trying to sell a used home is extremely difficult unle...

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?

In many ways the article is correct. The blame is always placed on the drivers. The government has a department that manages and controls the roads, it also has a police department for implementing state laws, yet neither are ever blamed for improper designs, road management or law enforcement. We f...

I had similar from UK and elsewhere, each one I stated non resident for taxation purposes, as this is my formal status in Oz. Had nothing back so I assume they accept.

Re: Legality of email correspondence

Dannie, I know off topic about email, but did you sign a contract with the property agent, if not I doubt anything could be enforced as they are doing it at their own risk. Verbal agreements may be enforceable in some jurisdictions but do you really think the agent will go to the substantial cost of...

You can be in a stable marriage today and the biggest S... tomorrow, especially in Thailand. I know I am going through it. Many years good now two of hell. Never ever put a property solely in your wife's name or any of her family. If not married make a formal pre nup agreement, if she will not sign ...

Re: Mold in buildings in Thailand

This time of year after all of the rain black mold is very common mainly outdoors but will show indoors is some place. Outside you can use a high pressure cleaner which is pretty hard work, indoors I have no idea how to get rid of it.
