Re: Customs at the airport

I arrived back two weeks ago and no one seemed to be having baggage checked after collection, it was the usual thing of the airport staff sitting around doing very little.

And as always not enough staff on passport control, even in fast track section.

Re: nonstick cooking spray

Well then using my existing virgin olive oil in a spare pump spray seems to be the way to go. Thanks all.

Re: Is pla-ra safe to eat?

I have a doctor friend who goes north regularly, he states you should never touch this stuff as there is no quality control, most is home made and full of harmful bacteria. he states in Isaan the hospitals deal with a lot of cases of liver problems brought on by eating this stuff. However one should...

Re: Tax Residency (bank requirements)

Strange, I am also with Westpac and have not seen anything related to this. If you earn interest on a Oz bank account you MUST pay tax on the interest and submit a tax return. I still pay withholding tax in Oz which is very minimal.

Re: News of the Weird - this just in!

Wow, strange law. That would never happen in the U.S. If someone breaks into your home, you are well within your rights to blow their head off. Outside is another matter, you have to be in fear of your life, but inside the house... boom! That's why burglars here are usually very careful to make sur...

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?

The idea of enforcement in Hua Hin seems to involve erecting electronic gantries showing what the speed limit is and showing how fast drivers are going. And only for 2 out of 3 Lanes. Does someone expect some magical change in behaviour? The same is used in many countries, it is a slowly slowy appr...

Re: Which car would you feel safest in Thailand

That is an interesting site, one does have to review the report to determine which country the car was manufactured so it may not be a standard across all countries as shown below. The Japanese model covers most countries, others are specific to their own country. TESTED VARIANT ORIGIN INDONESIA FOR...
