Re: Visiting Hua Hin late August 2017, golf partners

I'll be playing from the 23rd to the 29th and planning to play Sea Pines, Banyan, Black Mountain and Majestic, maybe Palm Hills and Springfield but staying in Khao Takiab so those two are a bit more of a trek.

Re: Shipping golf club from BKK airport to Hua Hin

Thanks but I'll be in BKK anyway and it seems easier to avoid international shipping

Shipping golf club from BKK airport to Hua Hin

Hi, I am planning to come play some golf during the festival however I am also hoping to cycle from Singapore to Hua HIn. My plan would be to fly to BKK and somehow send my clubs to Hua HIn and then pick them up once I have finished my ride north a couple of weeks later. I have read that people use ...

Re: Normal tip for caddie in Hua Hin ?

I guess we have different thai friends because I've never played with one the gave less than 250 and they often gave more particularly when they gamble which is all the time. I often play with thais particularly at Sea Pines and I've had a few caddies who weren't shy about saying they thought that i...

Re: Normal tip for caddie in Hua Hin ?

Caddies generally only get half of the fee which is why the tip is fairly important. They also often don't work every day particularly in low season. They might only get a couple of days work a week unless they have regulars that request them. Nickel and diming a caddie for 100Baht(2 Pounds!) seems ...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2013

True however it's a lot more money to fork out in one go and you have to be able to resell it. If the club goes under or is under crisis, you could lose it all. Furthermore, rules can change... a couple of years ago Loch Palm decided to charge 300Baht to people who had paid a 200K membership, many o...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2013

The 5 year membership is only 40K Baht and annual fee 10K then it's 350Baht per rounds...It's not surprising that they ask for some money for green fees. You want to pay no green fee at Springfield? It'll cost you over 300K, 800K at Banyan... If I'm not mistaken, at Sea Pines, it's 30K per year and ...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2013

Excellent news that Banyan will allow walking for everyone. That's the way golf is meant to be played and forcing people having carts and caddies is overkill considering that the main use of caddies is to carry the clubs. I imagine it will be tough on them at the beginning but they'll get use to it ...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2013

You are correct that Phuket is a different place than Hua Hin. That's why prices are about double what they are in Hua Hin however you can't escape the fact that a fair number of golfers that come to Hua Hin don't live there...Businesses recognize that and charge accordingly. You seem to think that ...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2013

There are courses that are cheaper in Pattaya and there are others that are expensive like Laem Chabang and Siam Country Club. Should they lower their prices? The reality is that some businesses are happy to charge more in order to attract a certain kind of customer and they will if they offer a goo...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2013

Ridiculous statement of the month: Golf should be cheaper in Hua Hin... Why should it be? They are businesses and making money that way. Golf courses are not social services set up to accommodate retired people. Hua Hin is a resort town, look around the world a beach resorts and try to find cheaper ...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2013

It's a promotional event under TAT and it's not practical to start advertising different prices. When Banyan joined in, it was officially 800Baht but they tacked in the cart/caddy fee to get what they wanted. In Chiang Mai the same things happen. The courses can decide to charge the advertised fee o...

Re: With green fees going through the roof, any way out?

It is quite amazing to see courses matching prices with Black Mountain and hoping to get the same kind of prices. I guess if BM manages to fill it slots then there's a trickle down effect where people have to find a place to play. The reality is that courses in Hua Hin are still cheaper than in Phuk...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip

If I remember correctly, you pay 30K and then it's 300baht per round at Sea Pines with no restrictions on residency, times etc... I think it's a great deal if you look at the quality of the course and the location being so close to Hua Hin. Seems like Majestic might turn out to be a good deal but it...
