Re: Electric Cars
Yes I should read back in the thread a bit, my bad. :( I’m lucky as regards to electric prices as I signed up for cheap overnight electric from OctopusEnergy back in May 21 when we got the car and my tariff is 5pp Kwh for 4 hours overnight, 13.75 pp Kwh day rate with 24pp day standing charge. That w...

Re: Electric Cars
We have had an EV for just over a year here in the UK. It’s a KIA SOUL EV First edition 68kwh and we’ve done 22,500 miles in it since new. Mostly local journeys with the odd 270 mile round trip to Heathrow. We have never charged at public chargers, as we have a 7Kwh charger system at home and we cha...

Re: When was your first visit to Hua Hin?
1998 (I think) when I actually visited and stayed with my wife in HH. She was scouting out businesses for her family and she said this is where she wanted to live. Back then it was like a frontier town, with no modern amenities to speak of. I flew back to UK for a while then came back to HH to live....

Re: Hua Hin property market at present
The inlaws have purchased 2 condos and 3 houses during the last 6 months in Hua Hin, all at fire sale prices.
All rented out to Thais. It’s a buyers market and plenty of properties to be had for a bargain price.

Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
The wife's parents in Pathum Thani, were offered Sinovac back in June, but we told them to wait for the AZ Jab, which they did.
They had their first AZ jabs late June and are due their 2nd jab in late September.
Glad they didn’t go for the Chinese vaccine.

Re: Cholesterol reduction tips
Despite being overweight, don’t exercise, drink red wine and the odd beer and eat loads of red meat... Finally... finally ... after all these years I've found my soulmate, and he's an overweight, middle-aged man... typical!! :cuss: :banghead: I’m almost 70 mate, but I’m already taken. :D My soulmat...

Re: Boundary/Neighbour Dispute
When we had a beachfront property on Neabkehardt Road, a section of the compound next to us was sold to a Thai woman with an American husband. They decided to construct a property along the boundary dividing our house and business and their new building. However, they did keep a 1 meter gap as we ha...

Re: Cholesterol reduction tips
I’ve been using ACV with the mother in it for years. Despite being overweight, don’t exercise, drink red wine and the odd beer and eat loads of red meat, my cholesterol levels are within the “normal range” and have been for years. Not sure if that is due to the ACV or not, but it doesn’t do any harm...

Re: Monsoon Valley entrance charge
Yup, still around but due to this Covid crap we’re all tied to the UK at the moment.
May get back for a visit in late 2021 or early 2022, God willing and the river don’t rise.

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues
The wife and son usually go to Thailand during the early part of the year for 2 weeks and all of August each year, but Covid has put paid to that. She’s resigned to the fact that this will go on possibly for all of 2021 in some form or other. So we will endeavour to get her family to the UK on 6 mon...

Re: Cookin Corner
I make Sprout from time to time. I steam a kilo of sprouts for 5 min, no longer, keeping a few cooked sprouts aside for garnish. Then put the rest into a litre of full cream milk, bring to the simmer, add salt, pepper and a minced clove of garlic, blitz with a hand blender and add a few small pieces...

Re: Monsoon Valley entrance charge
If I was going there to eat and the Baht 200 came off the bill then I wouldn’t mind, but if they also hiked their food and drink prices I’d vote with my feet.

Re: 50 years on (except Hua Hin)
17 years old, crammed into our sitting room with several neighbours, watching it live. The tension in the room was palpable and you could have heard a pin drop. I seem to remember my first year at school in 1957 aged 5, a very nerdy teacher had some sort of monitoring device that picked up the Sputn...
