Re: Hua Hin water shortage
I wouldn’t have full confidence that the water is properly tested to ensure it meets minimum standards - maybe I’m too pessimistic, but I certainly would consume any orally (hold your breath when talking a shower)

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
Germany records a 29% year on year drop in new EV sales. I think unless something is done to tackle cost, EV sales will continue to drop across Europe and beyond. It’s happening across most of the EU https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1889719/eu-electric-cars-sales-plummet-germany?gaa_at=la&g...

Re: Menu/food prices rising in Thailand
I’m mindful that we’re living here in Thailand but surely a bit of perspective now and again doesn’t take away what we’re discussing. I’m definitely not the only person who’s “guilty” of doing that!!

Re: Menu/food prices rising in Thailand
The price of pork must be the wholesale price because it’s quite a bit more than that in the supermarkets. Indeed, CP must make its profits regardless. These increases appear to be climate-related though, and this is only going to get worse with amplified and accelerated drought/flood cycles in Tha...

Re: Menu/food prices rising in Thailand
The price of pork must be the wholesale price because it’s quite a bit more than that in the supermarkets. If the price of the inputs go up, then the price of the output has to go up - people won’t like it but what are producers expected to do - work at a loss? Fortunately the rich retired farang wi...

Re: Champion's League 23/24
Both City and Arsenal get dumped out of the Champions League - on chances City should have won by a landslide but ended up losing in a penalty shootout. The Arsenal game was closer although they still had chances to win but didn’t take them. Let’s see if/how these results affect the run in to the Pr...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
^It would make more sense to me if it was a plug in hybrid with a realistic electric driving range, so you could use it for local driving as an ev and long range as a petrol car but the one I saw wasn't, it was just a hybrid. I don’t know whether Nissan sell a hybrid Kicks, but the e-power version ...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
In the UK you can buy either a Nissan X-Trail or Qashqai with this technology - 100% electric drive but with a combustion engine to feed the battery/motor - range anxiety no longer an issue!!

I was thinking the same about phones and distractions, I can understand the benefits of a map if you’re going somewhere you don’t know - of course everyone to themselves but it looks like an unnecessary potential hazard to me.

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
For the price it’s a lot of car for the money but they also do a single motor with about 300 hp - performance is still good but cheaper to buy?

Re: Dubai airport (DXB) flooded
These events whilst fairly rare are not unique. I’ve checked the weather forecast and it’s looking dry for the foreseeable future so it’s unlikely to have any lasting impact. I used to work in the region and witnessed some fairly drastic storms, but these were normally in November or December so no ...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
Sorry to burst your bubble, but SMMT's forecast for 2024 new BEV,s sales is 414,000. 20,935 BEV's, 18,744 Hybrid's HEV's and 11,944 Hybrid Electrics PHEV's were newly registered in January 2024 alone! 414,000 where's the fall in those numbers? My EV easily does 300+ miles on a charge. Insurance is ...

Re: Thai police require stricter foreigner screening and monthly case reports
Regarding the comment above about those doing the looking are probably involved as in “Bent Coppers in the BBC’s Line of Duty”, I’ve been watching a series of the same name on Amazon Prime which investigated corruption within the Met Police in the 90’s - the synopsis of which is where’s there’s crim...
