Re: The Pros & Cons of Using Aircon

My only problem with air con is the thermostat is regulated in big fat centigrade degrees. A 2 degree centigrade difference is a 3.6 degree Fahrenheit difference. When set to 28C, room temp varies between 29 and 27. At 29 the humidity wakes me up unless I went to bed exhausted. It's usually hard to ...

Re: The Pros & Cons of Using Aircon

It seems that either the germ factory of crowded airports or confined space of an airplane seems to be the best way for me to catch cold. It doesn't help that airplane HVAC delivers low humidity air. Dry upper respiratory passages are far easier to be infected than moist ones. I always fly with and...

I use a spray bottle with 500 liters of water and about a tablespoon of bleach.
Either that's:
1) A homeopathic remedy,
or
2) You're a world champion power lifter,
or
3) You meant milliliters.

Re: TV series worth downloading

Babylon Berlin Had to download, then watch 2 episodes back to back after reading this: It's a declaration of love to the exalted lifestyle of Berlin of the 1920s. Director Tom Tykwer ... felt strongly about this: "The story is set in a city going through a cultural explosion, an abrupt decline of m...

Yankees only: Online notarization valid in the US

As far as I knew the only way in Thailand to get a notarization valid in the US is at the embassy. That's $50 and a round trip to Bangkok. Last year Virginia allowed notaries to work online. Reciprocal agreements means other states accept it, though not for all things. www.notarize.com has links to ...

Didn't want to sit through the BBC advert in the link above. Here is an ad free view of the wipeout.

Never seen anyone spit out of white water like that.

Re: Alternative way to upload images to the forum.

I did explain that the images are stored away from the forum's server (actually they are uploaded if the user puts them in an image hosting account), and should not be deleted. Oops. I missed that. If it's allowed then it can be done. And no-one closes image hosting accounts like Flickr and Imgur o...

Re: Buying a new laptop

   best laptop.jpg best laptop.jpg is a photo of apple. Not going to argue if it's the best laptop, that's for each user to decide. But what killed me from buying a Macbook Air for travel is how it implemented Apple's basic business strategy of price gouging once you're locked ...

Re: Alternative way to upload images to the forum.

I read so many people saying 'when I figure out how to...' I'll suggest a way to upload without need to reduce the size of your pictures/photos or worry about pixel numbers. Actually, it's hotlinking, not uploading. Many forums don't allow it. One problem is it costs more because it uses the forum'...

All symantecs and terminology really - doesn't change the situation. I'm guessing an OA is a retirement and an O is marriage? I don't know the difference.
Unless one is a complete visa rookie, it's easy to spot who knows what they're talking about and who to ignore.

Re: Shipping a laptop overseas

Just as a side note. These days many laptops, like mine, have the battery built into the laptop. It is impossible to replace unless the actual laptop is opened with screwdrivers etc. How to send one of these??? If you open it normally warranty is voided, and bu opening you expose the internals and r...

Re: Advise requirements needed for oa visa

I haven't looked at OA visa info since I first decided upon an O. When did the OA become more like an O? According to Thai immigration and the Thai embassy in Singapore, one must report every 90 days. Other than an unspecified (unlimited?) number of multiple entries, now what's the advantage of the ...

Re: Advise requirements needed for oa visa

It is a hundred times easier getting it in the UK before you come than dealing with the bureaucrats here, don't believe the flowery stories you read on the internet. Here is how I did it: http://www.huahinforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=34929 In linked thread you said 'non-o' visa. Further clairifyin...
