Longish Term Parking
Hi, I will be in Thailand for golf in Hua Hin in November for one month at the downtown area and I am looking for a place to park my minivan which is a rental and leave it for a price. My accommodation does not have parking. Some have suggested the Airport but there must be a closer option? Any sugg...

Re: Global Warming 2
Yea, the cows do produce a more menacing greenhouse gas, Methane, but I read an article once about a farm where they rigged up apparatuses to the cows to "capture" the gasses they produced: http://www.physorg.com/news135003243.html How humiliating! Imagine walking around all day with a hef...

Re: Laptop Batteries
In Cambodia everyone uses ups's uninterpretable power supplys to keep their desktops going after a power outage but they last even longer with a laptop since the power drain on them is so much less. They also give you the added benefit of smoothing out any power spikes. We buy them for about 25-30$,...

Re: Global Warming 2
Global warming will probably go down in recorded history as one of the biggest hoaxes ever played on humanity. We have been cooling for over 10 years. My favorite story on the whole fiasco was when the programming for the original hockey stick modeling system was discovered. It was found that no mat...

Re: TLC Computer School now open
We keep a single computer around at my company loaded with windows xp 100% locked down in using steady state. This means then when it restarts no changes are made to the system. We use this one to clean/format any flash drives that have used in an outside computer. And forget about it if you plug in...

Re: The Digital Surgery
My email provider (orange) won't allow me to open my emails because it says cookies are not enabled. According to Firefox they are enabled. I've tried unchecking and rechecking them with no success. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and that worked for one session. The next time I tried I got t...

Re: Internet Speed
Hi, based on your speed test, in theory you should have no problem video conferencing at .4mbit. You should experience a 1/2 second lag based on your latency so when you say something it will be broadcast on the other side a 1/2 second later. I have also found Skype to be one of the most efficient c...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip
Thanks! I have decided on flying into Bangkok and renting a car so I will certainly make a stop in Bangkok and see if I can find any deals on my way in. Pete, you have been more than helpful, if I run into you in HH, beers are on me

Re: Cambodia
Yea, I don't know a single person who has utilized the train. Buses are the preferred mode of transit on the cheap ~ 7$ each way to the beach I believe. Last time I drove to Siem Reap I went to one of the off the beaten track temples, made a wrong turn somewhere and wound up driving down a rutted di...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip
Thanks for the advice! I probably will just choose to wait then until I go to Shanghai next September. I understand that is the cheapest place to buy them, but you have to watch out for the super cheezy knock-offs. I will hunt around whats left standing in Bangkok on the way to HH, maybe there are s...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip
A quick question:
I am planning to play massive amounts of golf in HH in June and July but I will be making a stop in Bangkok on the way. Is golf equipment cheaper in Bangkok or HH? I would like to pick up some utility clubs to replace my incomplete set of long irons.

Re: The Digital Surgery
You might try disconnecting the connectors and reconnecting them if it is a desktop and likewise if it is a laptop there is usually a screw you can remove and slide out the drive and then slide it back in. Sometimes the connection gets dusty over time and just reconnecting it will solve it. Also you...

Cambodia
Not specifically about Phnom Penh but about the beach and island areas on the coast like Sihanoukville and others. How are they and the quality/safety? Any recommendations? Thanks. Pete  I must take a trip out to Sihanoukville 3 to 4 times per year to get out of the city. It's an easy drive...
