Re: ARMY now checking bars in Hua Hin
The army has been pretty unobtrusive this time. I suspect that they are pressurizing the police to do what they want. If the police and army start to compete, WOW. The Chinese have a saying--When the elephants are fighting, the monkeys stay in the trees.

Re: Cookin Corner
I like to use M/wave as much as i can, as it does not heat up the house. As apposed to frying or using the oven, does the induction cooking method have lower heat output into the house too

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues
The only stats I would trust are those from starred hotels and they keep these quiet (unless they are 100%) I have never seen a post on HHF from a hotel person, policy and a sense of only being here temporarily, I guess. But the staff will tell you. My own input from a senior manager at a 5star hote...

GLCQ --- I am surprised at your thought about 'stricter laws'. Prostitution is ILLEGAL, cant have a stricter law than that. there are always 2 questions 1 WHAT IS THE LAW? 2 IS IT BEING ENFORCED?

Re: High-speed train bids to start in 2013
I am sure that the Chinese realize that bringing it thru LAOS will be easy politically, of course they will have to pay. Malaysia is going to do it for their own reasons. the missing link is Thai. going to Dawei will be less distance than running it down to Butterworth.

Re: High-speed train bids to start in 2013
So it looks as if the Japanese are the favorites to build the high speed railways. They did build pretty quickly the last time they tried in the early 40s. If it comes to pass I hope they are in charge of the money in addition to the construction

For two sets AM was really competitive, won 2 games in the 3rd then an amazing decline--lost12 out 0f the next 13 games--4th set he didn't look as if he could win more than the occasional point. On the other hand ND is a machine, maybe the best ever.

Strange, very amateurish, create a scare but not much damage. A trial run? Incompetence? Start of continuing violence?

The opinion of the police is death from a fall.
I am beginning to think that this happens so often that it could be called ''From Natural causes"as it is quite natural for farangs to be murdered in Thailand.

Re: Where to get stitches, cheap & good
for small cuts Band-Aids can be very effective. Suturing approximates the edges of a cut, but nature does the healing. If it is on part of the skin that is very mobile, if you clean well with peroxide or Betadine then one person squeezes the tissue together while another applies the Band-aid you can...
