Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

I have been checking the weather forcast via the "widget" over there on the right under the Exchange rate table. I have noticed for several days now that nothing matches what I am seeing outside my window. "Heavy showers" . . and I see sun. "Sunny" and I am seeing drizzle. Right now .. click on it a...

Re: Japan To Help Improve Road Safety Across The Kingdom

I have heard that British ships of war back in the days of sailing ships painted the decks red to hide the blood. . . .perhaps a similar line of thinking went into painting the road red as a warning? But face it, no amount of paint, rumble strips, signs, bells or whistles will help in the slightest ...

The Royal Cremation Ceremonies

In my humble opinion, having witnessed and/or been a part of countless military ceremonials, there is not a culture or people on earth to match what the Thai people pulled off today between the Grand Palace and Sanam Luang. It was not a complete surprise because a few years ago I was fortunate enoug...

Re: Chicken wire

Sorry . .I wish I could. . .we wandered around Petburi for at least two hours checking places out and came across this place almost by accident. It is a fairly large local ( not Homepro or the big guys) hardware store not far from the river on the main temple side. Not even sure we could find it aga...

Re: Chicken wire

Thanks to folks who replied to this thread! After a considerable search of eight or ten stores between Hua hin and Petburi we were able to locate something that will do quite nicely. It is a fairly heavy gauge galvanized & welded product with 1x 2 inch spacing. Four foot roll and just the right size...

Chicken wire

We are in need of REAL chicken wire! We have tried to use what is available here. . .that black or green plastic stuff is like paper and totally useless. Cant think what people here actually use it for. As well, the thin wire square mesh stuff so readily available everywhere ( Home pro has it ..also...

Re: Tropical fish store?

Ok I checked out the fish store on soi 88. Thanks for the directions Nokyai. I didnt find it very welcoming I'm afraid. It was very dark but things seemed clean and well kept. Just not a lot of stock or much variety. Lots of small guppy type fish and about a dozen koi. Anyway, I didnt find what I wa...

Re: Where did Benja Orchids go?

Yes, as I observed Oakdale, it is just a really sad situation. I believe that the owner was French and I have heard from a former worker ( via a friend) that he ( worker) quit because the pay was not enough. It was a thriving business and the owner appeared to have a great deal of technical know-how...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

One contribution to the slump has got to be the appalling immigration procedures at Suwannaphum. We arrived from Europe three days ago in the evening around 7:00. The "snake" line was already well beyond the sign on the fence that said "Wait time from this point one hour" I was in line for over an h...

Re: Where did Benja Orchids go?

While I am at it here, I will bump this thread up too. I have stopped a few times over the past months at the "new" Benja orchid place on the canal road. Stopped there a couple days ago in the morning and afternoon and they were closed. Sad really. They used to be a wonderful thriving business with ...

Tropical fish store?

Bumping up a thread I started several years ago and looking for updated info. Our koi died while we were away on vacation ( most probably a combination of lack of oxygen and overfeeding due to serious miscommunication with our gardener) Anyway. Fish stores seem to come and go here. . .any suggestions?

Re: Power shower assembly

Not sure how my thread subject got changed here. . . .I was not asking about assembly as much as disassembly! The assembly went fine. Just a couple of extra rubber washers left over. I left the old hose with the little tube on the water heater and just connected it to the new rig instead of using th...
