Re: Bangkok Hospital: hope you have health insurance or plenty of cash
It's the same for most countries now; you have to have health insurance to get a visa. Soon only the wealthy will be able to travel, which is probably what most govts. want. Keep out the backpackers. Backpackers tend to be relatively young and therefore don't generally have problems getting medical...

Re: Rip off laundry
When I picked it up yesterday morning everything was packed up in 2 plastic bags, including the shirts and long trousers, but no hangers and NO check bin, refused to give me one in fact despite repeated requests, and then: 640 Baht! In a hurry to get going I paid it and off I went. When I unpacked ...

Fox Sports access for 9bt/day
I discovered this little gem by accident but as somebody who only watches F1, and even then likes to go out to watch the races when I can, this is a great little way to get coverage of the sessions when I'm at home without needing to pay a monthly subscription. There are some caveats; you need an AI...

Re: Looking for an alternative to True
It may mean a change of internet provider too, but have you had a look at the AIS packages? I don't know if they have the channels you want or not, but details of the ones available and pricing are available here (you need to click the confusingly named "for additional channels" link to actually see...

Re: British Passport renewal company in Hua Hin?
When I went with my daughter a year ago, she only had to produce copies of her old passport, which was well out of date. How was she here if her passport was well out of date?? Additionally, if a passport is out-of-date I'm pretty sure that a "new passport" application has to be made, so I'm surpri...

Re: British Passport renewal company in Hua Hin?
The Visa Agency accepts copies and as KeyVisa deals with them I'm sure a copy will do. The British Passport Office accepts a copy from Thailand because of the laws here whereas you have to be able to produce your passport when required. Are you sure about this??? When I did my renewal a couple of y...

Does section 15 classify what "hotel business" actually consists of, though?

There are not that many 17/18 year old westerners here.

Re: The Beer Thread
If it's brewed in Cambodia, at a brewery that also brews Cambodian craft beer, is it really Thai craft beer? And who cares anyway? I also saw on their FB page that they eventually hope to brew and sell enough to get the price down to around 70 baht. I hope they do, if the beer's any good. Well Camb...

Re: Hua Hin's most dangerous pedestrian crossing
While there are undoubtedly plenty of people who just blast through these crossings thinking "red light doesn't count for me", there's an altogether bigger problem... When the traffic is light you see some of the cars coming through at high speeds, making stopping for the traffic lights once they've...

Re: Bitcoin mining and cryptocurrency thread
Unless traded on the new bit coin futures market’s which are traded in dollars, and treated like any commodities trades. Whichever way your trade goes you get your paid out in dollars. Not really... I bought most my coins in GBP and have been paid out in both GBP and THB; not seen a single dollar a...

Re: Chinese tourists (and their habits) surge into Thailand
An extract from the article in "coconuts" para 3 'Mahout Yu Yungram, 37, said that he was taking two Chinese tourists on an elephant ride around the orchard when they encountered a dozen other Chinese tourists. Yu said he tried to tell his charges not to go near the elephant, but the tourists began...
