Try the Marriot, that might float your boat and be what you are accustomed to along with a further bewildering choice if needs be. I think the forum does a booking service for all sorts of hotels and is a decent way to sort it out from all accounts, caters for the grand and normal needs I think.......

Assuming you can't go yourself, I'd call the embassy - even for the Thai authorities, issuing a tourist visa should be a simple one-day affair. Thanks Crazy 88, this sounds good as we will be arriving with monies on a package holiday for a week, so we can deposit in Ayudhya bank straight away, as will need to look around within the week in HH to find long term accommodation .....Do you have the bank address or are there many?
