Re: Shipping Agent for Household Goods to UK
Hi, We moved back to the UK late last year. We used Asian Tigers and although they were on the expensive side, we couldn't fault the service. The packing was excellent and as far as I remember we had 28 cubic metres measured (one shipping container charged) and it cost us around £7k, including insur...

Re: Transfer Funds to UK
Thanks for the info - hhfarang, maybe a different agreement between the US & Thai governments over transfers or as you say because you have a Thai wife. May have to consider changing banks but would be a pain at this stage, will try the main branch tomorrow and see what they say. THanks for the ...

Re: Transfer Funds to UK
Went to the Bangkok Bank branch (I bank with them) next to Market Village and the manager said you can only transfer a max of $5000 per day. Anyone tried to transfer larger amounts with Bangkok Bank and if so was it at the main branch on Petkasem Rd.?? Any help would be appreciated - need to send a ...

As with all things here - cover every aspect, so letter from bank is needed even though you have the bank account book. You don't need to make an appointment just turn up and queue with the rest. Had a friend and his wife went there a couple of days ago (both farang) - they have been here for five y...

Re: Thailand education ranked lower than Vietnam and Cambodi
Need a massive mind-set change to do anything positive. It's difficult to assess and train teachers when the expectation is that nobody fails - result is qualified teachers who don't actually have the tools or ability to teach. Heard of one Thai teacher who had been teaching english for 26 years and...

Re: The new Venetia Shopping complex
Drove over for a visit on Monday. Luckily I was also going to Thai Watsadu so at least the fuel wasn't totally wasted. Big, big disappointment. I read some time ago that the reason the opening was being delayed was to ensure that the quality and accuracy of the build was spot on. Well, I hate to see...

Re: Colonoscopy - Choice of Venue....
Well, thanks for all the comments. Not much about the procedure itself - but nice to see so many people interested..!! I remember having one back in the UK a few years ago and the doctor performing it asked if I was OK. I replied that as long as I couldn't feel both his hands on my shoulders I was m...

Re: Colonoscopy - Choice of Venue....
Thanks for all the comments..!! In all seriousness, I have one every three years to check for any further polyps that may have appeared since the last ones were removed. I have had the FIT for colon cancer screening about two years ago and that was negative. This three yearly check is to find any mo...

Colonoscopy - Choice of Venue....
I have a colonoscopy every three years and am due to have one this year. Just wanted to know if anyone had recently experienced the procedure in any of the local hospitals here in Hua Hin and what your impressions are about the procedure plus how much does it cost.

Transfer Funds to UK
I've tried to find some up to date info on this. Found plenty of advice about UK to Thailand but not the other way. Does anyone have any recent experience of transferring substantial amounts back to the UK.

What Age car for Vehicle Inspection
Trying to find out if there is a specific date for a car to be inspected in Thailand. Is it the same as in UK with the MoT test or the TuV in Germany. Someone said it has to be done when the car is seven years old, if so what happens if you don't have it done...??!!
