Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

More figures plucked out of thin air to justify TAT ministers salaries.

I'd love to see accurate numbers for revenue which is what actually counts at the end of the day.

Re: Grab Coming to Hua Hin

Its here: http://www.huahinforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=34161&p=461654#p461654 Anyone figured out why there is such a premium added on to Grab fares? Does the app take that much of a commission from the drivers or are they taking the piss themselves? Only ever used it once to get a cab to Don Muan...

Re: Elections delayed again, PM denies involvement

Thailand wearies of junta rule, election promise still vague Four years after seizing power, Thailand's junta has a singular success it never hoped for: uniting a politically divided nation in growing dissatisfaction with the thin-skinned rule of the generals. After rifle-toting soldiers overthrew ...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

We all know those figures are bullshit, made up by the department of Tourism BS to justify their jobs. They include all airport landings, transits, citizens of neighboring countries crossing borders, burmese workers, 90 day visa runners are counted as 4 tourists within a year, any way they can to bo...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

Just been down to our beach and I was the only person in sight for 20 kilometers. Every resort on the beach is empty at the moment.

If that isn't a tourist slump I dont know what is. What are things like in Hua Hin?

Nat Geo are currently running a feature on plastics and their impact on the planet: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/envi ... orplastic/

Lots of scary info there for those that want to ignore the problem or say 'its someone else's job'.

Re: Govt crackdown on Airbnb, declares bookings illegal

I don't for a moment think the junta have the people's interests in mind with this latest crackdown, they don't give a hoot about party houses or how much of a menace they can be. Airbnb - a private company out of Thailand's control - takes 3% commission on bookings. The govt taxes the hell out of h...

Speaking of press crackdowns ... Thai PBS English has not published since the end of April - http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/

A notice came through their RSS feed a couple of weeks ago stating that "there were changes ahead and the site was going offline until further notice". Coincidence?

A computer database is being developed to store information about foreigners to help authorities keep track of them while they are in Thailand, defence spokesman Kongcheep Tantravanich says. Tourists, investors and migrant workers are the core groups Thai security authorities want to better monitor...
