Re: Thailand changes visa rules to boost economy urgently

Thinking likewise, 6 months per year in Thailand will suit me when all this tax bullshit kicks in. The new nomad visa also looks way easier to get/renew than a marriage visa! A lot of countries in Southern and Eastern Europe are also offering digital nomad visas for "semi retirement" purpo...

Re: Thailand changes visa rules to boost economy urgently

Interesting from Reuters ... "The validity of so-called "digital nomad" visas for self-employed, remote workers will be extended to five years, from 60 days presently, with each stay limited to 180 days." It shouldn't really be called a "digital nomad" visa as that is s...

Re: The i-things - Apple devices and software thread

It’s not clear to me why this post was moved to this thread. It’s not an Apple thing, it affects anyone who has a WiFi router which is probably most of us. Three reasons - it doesn't warrant its own dedicated thread, involves Apple tech, and will likely turn into another discussion about Apple (as ...

Re: Thailand changes visa rules to boost economy urgently

This is from the Thai Enquirer about the "easing" bits for tourists and students ... The cabinet has approved, in principle, visa measures to stimulate tourism, including a 60-day visa exemption, a new "Destination Thailand" visa, permission for foreign university students who st...

Re: Thailand changes visa rules to boost economy urgently

"Boosting the economy" means hunting for more money from foreigners so "easing" is the wrong word as these changes are likely to increase costs/difficulty for those wanting to live here. Edit: retirees are here permanently anyway, so there are no financial incentives to give them...

Re: HD Prime Internet TV ... problem?

But I am confused (easily done) about this, now I have a VPN, does it work on the whole computer, or just the browser that I used to install it. I guess there is an idiots proof guide out there somewhere but I have yet to find it! If it is a browser add-on, it will only work for that browser. If it...

There's plenty of discussion and recommendations for VPNs here: viewtopic.php?t=21434&start=381

Express used to be popular but now Nord beats it on price and service.

Re: Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations

No mention of flying to or from Hua Hin airport here, looks like conflicting reports. Re: Mobile SIM Registration Name Must Match Mobile Banking Name

Banking is going to get so much harder (read: impossible) for foreigners here when they implement and enforce the National Digital ID (NDID), which is designed to be linked to bank accounts so they can track financial activity. Edit: though I think this move is part of a wider crackdown on call-cent...

Re: Renewing a UK passport in Thailand

Finally got the new passport back after almost two months - no idea what the delay was for.

Used Hua Hin Visa Services on soi 94. Planned to use Anna but in a very typically Thai way, there are two identical businesses next to each other so I went in the wrong office!

You need a permit to fart in this country, so I can't see another piece of paper making a difference to availability.

Re: Thailand's coral at immediate risk from rising sea temperature, expert warns

Yes, when the coral is gone, its gone. When we moved to Bangsaphan around 15 years ago, there was prolific coral and marine life at Koh Talu. Now ... nada. The Thai fishing fleet raping the waters with their destructive dragnets hasn't helped, but it is largely down to the seas warming (more so in E...
