Re: Shabby town of Hua Hin
Never was a fan of HH, especially the surf side of Phetkasem, and was only good for a pit stop, to points further south when out and about, usually to Phuket from Udon Thani, where I lived for 16 years. I know I wouldn't enjoy living there, and rarely visit now. Again, a stop when to / from Krung Th...

Re: Why Did You Choose Hua Hin?
Assuming you're not Thai, so buying a condo, larger than 80m² will be quite the investment. Unless married to a Thai, then more cost effective to buy in (townhouse / house), and sell....maybe. Are you sure HH is for you, at least the next 5 - 10 years, and finances secure enough for any future negat...

Re: Birds of Thailand
Thanks PeteC And yes, I'm quite enjoying it. All new to me, along with interchangeable lens cameras. Filling the time and hobby void rather well. Them Drongos are everywhere, though first time I noticed the Racket tailed one. Didn't realize Thailand had so many different birds (1000+). And I'm all t...

Re: Birds of Thailand
Yes, the blue one is 'Collared', and the other is 'White Throated' I did mislabel the Pectoral Sandpiper, as that is actually a 'Pacific Golden Plover' The one actually on a branch, is an Ashy Drongo. And on the subject of Drongos .... Spotted a couple Greater Racket Tailed Drongos behind a c...

Re: Birds of Thailand
A few more spotted locally, PKK municipality. The urban wildlife adventure. Trekking the forest and patience isn't in my DNA. So it's concrete trees, and steel branches half of the time. So much easier to spot when on a wire, besides, the birds have a better viewpoint themselves when hunting insects...

Re: Birds of Thailand
Pacific Reef-Heron (Egretta sacra), I think, and sometimes labeled as Egrets, and makes sense. https://ebird.org/species/pacreh1 There was a Cormorant there also, one hadn't see before. Big arse'd head, looked out of proportion, especially when it stood tall. https://ebird.org/species/grecor https:/...

Re: Brisk condo sales outlook for Hua Hin
Should be some bargains out there with the rumoured mass exodus of expats, if willing to go 2nd hand....
Hear the local forum in Udon Thani is full of bargains (houses & vehicles) in their classified section.

A roll of notes.....
More like, one coin.
I'm pretty sure it cost me more in petrol to get there, than the tax. And that's not even taking the scenic route.

Re: Birds of Thailand
Thanks. They all just seem to be out and about, as the hard part is spotting them. The herons & storks are easy enough, and plentiful. Prefer to get them in a bit more natural setting, on a tree branch, but they do stand out on the wires....thankfully. Not a patient person, and haven't really sa...

Re: Birds of Thailand
Thanks. Yea, there was a couple of them. They don't stay still long. I've been noticing a lot of bee-eaters lately, having the greenish body & orange-ish crown / head. A couple yellow birds at the park, yet to get a snap of, damn fast, and really shy. Thinking a lot of bird feeders, when house b...
