if you want to be a little bit out of town....5 km south of Cha Am and 18km north of HH on a very nice beach....google CasaPapaya and see what you think. There is small five star hotel(Veranda) just a few metres away with beautiful beach bar, plenty of good restaurants nearby and the beach not full ...

If there is some sort of weather front moving thru the area then it might turn out that you will be unable to play for a couple days. The courses do drain well but not when u get dumped on for three days in a row. Typically the monsoon brings clouds in the afternoons and you might get a real deluge ...

hey dave, back to the topic and hope that i don't break any rules.....i stayed at the sofitel when it was the Railway Hotel and in disrepair....at 500 baht a nite it was a bit overpriced but that was 20 yrs ago. Stayed there once in the 90s after the renovations and it was great but I really preferr...

the gents that congregate under the clock tower adjacent to Starbucks operate the taxi service to Baan Kwai which is where the Regent, Novotel, Golden Sands, et al just 5km south of cha am. Fulay Hotel(was called fulay guesthouse in the 90s) is right in the middle of the tourist area of HH just down the street from Hilton. It is thai owned and managed with a very good restaurant on the ground floor. Book early as they are often full up. For a little romantic boutique hotel on the beach...

with the price of petrol seemingly increasing every other day 2800 baht is not a bad price to pay. I make that same trip 8 times a year always using the same driver and pay him 2500.....they do have to make a profit

back in the day......

in another post comparing HH to Pattaya someone asked if they know of the first bars on the bintah.....well, back in the mid 80s you could get a room at the Railway Hotel(now sofitel) for 500 baht and they walk down to Sang Thai (the restaurant on the pier) and not see one light, had to carry a torc...

i can highly recommend the Fulay Hotel.....they were called the Fulay Guesthouse for many many yrs but have gone a little more upscale(fortunately the prices have not) It's just down the street from the Hilton and not far from Goanna's.
