Re: Wat Khao Krailat in Khao Takiab

When we were last there about 10 years ago there were a few monks but they didn't take much notice of us. It seems a relatively poor temple compared to the one at the bottom of the hill, Wat Khao Lan Thom. It used to be that nearby Wat Khao Takiab was the richest temple around and was always crowded...

Re: Buying tea in Hua Hin

We were just in the supermarket in Hua Hin Shopping Mall and as I was buying tea (Liptons Yellow label is good enough for the likes of me) I noticed they have at least 2 kinds of Ceylon English Breakfast and a selection of Twinings teas.

Re: tea

If I remember rightly there's a specialist tea shop in the basement market area at Market Village. No idea what selection of teas they have though.

Re: Hua Hin's back roads

A friend bought a house in a rather expensive development up the hill from Bo Fai. He says water is currently shipped in by tankers to the developments main tank. The plan is that town water will eventually be piped in. But as far as he knows there is no timescale for that yet.

Re: Windows 8

hhfarang you can't upgrade directly to Windows 7 from XP either. It will be a clean install whether you opt for Win7 or Win8.1. For XP to Win 7 advice look here . For XP to Win 8.1 advice look here . In either case you should run the Upgrade Assistant which will tell what problems you might have wit...

Windows 8.1.Update1

Those of us who like Windows 8.1 no doubt know already that update 1 will be available from Tuesday 8th April. This update might even go some way to lessening the grumbles of those who still prefer Windows 7, although I expect the changes to the taskbar will upset more than a few of them. Google "Wi...

Re: The Digital Surgery

Hi Margaret. I saw in previous posts that way back in 2012 you were going to ditch Windows and Hotmail. 1 out of 2 ain't bad. Are you going to go through with part 2 now? Hope Microsoft manage to fix up your mail for you. Many (most?) people won't consider calling MS support but sometimes it can be ...

Unfortunately Margaret has to get logged in before she could do any mail migration - if she wanted to.

Re: The Digital Surgery

Margaret - This won't help you, but at least it shows you're not the only sufferer. Someone with the same problem as you, getting 4 digit instead of 5 digit codes (while I thought that the codes were supposed to be 7 digit, at least mine were when I tried it) link . I think you should give Microsoft...

Re: The Digital Surgery

Hope you get some joy Roel becaue I'm still going round in circles! In response to hhinner - and thanks again - I don't have an e mail address from my ISP. (It's Linux.) However - I set up a new Outlook account which Outlook then sent a security code to. The security code is 4 digit. I try to use i...

Re: The Digital Surgery

Hi Margaret. I think that MS want to use this security verification with all their accounts. I understand that your problem is actually receiving the security code. Right? I just had a try at setting up a new outlook account and I had the option of receiving the security code at another e-mail addre...

Re: The Digital Surgery

Hi Margaret. You could try this link ( http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/id-support ). Then select "I am having problems receiving or using a security code". I've never had this problem so don't know whether this will help or not. I'm sure someone else will be along with a definitive a...

Re: The Digital Surgery

SNMP is set to Get Community=public Set Community=public. I assume a minimum would be to change Set = private ? No, "private" is the usual default for Set. Change them both to some unintelligible garbage. If you ever graduate to using SNMP (don't know why you would though) you can change them to so...

Re: The Digital Surgery

Frank, I see that these routers include SNMP fuctionality. If you haven't changed the default community strings then it would be possible for an external SNMP application to read and change your router settings. If you enable SPI then you will probably disallow all access from the WAN including SNMP...
