Re: Chinese tourists (and their habits) surge into Thailand

^^ VS I really take exception your closing remark about Chinese tourists. I mean who, whilst doing their grocery shopping at Tesco in Market Village, wants to have to put up with hordes of Chinese tourists dressed in bright, gaudy colours a hollering and a whooping? They should be perfectly fine at ...

Nope, it's just for cash withdrawals. Both Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank ATM cards can be used as debit cards, but they have to be activated by the Banks on request. Debit cards can be used in ATMs. ATM only cards cannot be used as debit cards. Kasikorn used to issue both types, but not sure if that's ...

Re: Biggest Benefit to Being Expat

The need for a tax certificate when leaving the country was discontinued, not the requirement for residents to file tax returns. Anyway, I was only disputing the "no taxes" as an advantage to living here. I think there's another thread about tax, but when it comes to tax maybe ignorance is bliss. :)

Re: Biggest Benefit to Being Expat

If you're resident in Thailand (i.e. more than 180 days per tax year) then you are legally obliged to file a tax report. The fine for not doing so is a whopping 200 baht per year missed, as I was told when I visited the tax office a couple of months ago.

Re: Instant Messaging

I use both LINE and WhatsApp. Each has its good points. LINE can be used from your PC, which is useful if the phone is out of action for whatever reason. However backing up and restoring LINE is a real pain. With WhatsApp you can set automatic backups to sd card or cloud and recovery is really easy ...
