Thx Lomu What is the difference between "O" and "O-A" visa? I always thought I had an "O-A" visum and "O" is with Thai wife, but now I looked into the passport and it is an "O" visum. The basic difference is that the 'O-A' visa (i.e. 12 month Longst...

Well, one MORE take on this purported 24 hr reporting to Immigration on returning: I had heard about this on other Boards as well as this one, yet I have not actually seen this reporting-in rule written down anywhere on Thai immigration or Foreign Affairs websites (which didn't surprise me, this bei...

The losses mount: my description would go something like this ... after Thai baht spat into my hand at the 7-11 ATM just down the street, I'm out Exchange rate conversion fee + $5 'withdrawal-out-of-country' fee on Canadian end + 150 baht fee on Thai end 'just-because-it's-doable' + probably some sm...

Someplace new?

Try Thaiwai Restaurant & Bar on Soi 80 for very good pizza and extremely good great big fat juicy hamburgers. I prefer my pizzas thin crust style (Corner Pizza is best for these I agree), but Thaiwai's version is, although not very thin, certainly not one of those god awful thick & chewy mon...

As a short denouement to this thread: As explained in the original post my O-A 12-mth Visa has an 'ending' date of August 12/09. But this morning, I had no problem receiving a re-entry stamp (single re-entry, 1000 baht) allowing me to re-enter Thailand on any date before Sept 14/09 (i.e. 12 months a...

Well, now that I read the other thread again, the news regarding the Hua Hin office on Soi 23 is already there! Oh well ... probably a thread of it's own is better, no need to wade through 12 pages of the old thread to find it. I'm happy too as the Prachuap-only thing would have been an annoying pai...

Hua Hin Immigration Office moving to Soi 23, not Prachuap

Started a new thread on this to make sure the message is received. Looks like the 'move' to Prachuap Kiri Khan was for a week only, apparently in order to get the new office in Hua Hin ready for the grand opening. (Too bad it didn't mention that on the sign in Soi 102 :D ) Anyway, I got this tip fro...

A question regarding the 12-month O-A Longterm Visa ...

Some background info: I am in Thailand (Hua Hin) on a Non-Immigrant 12-month multiple entry 'O-A' visa (retirement). I received it in Vancouver on August 13/08. The visa document states that I must enter Thailand no later than August 12/09. I actually entered Thailand about one month later, on Septe...

1000 views and still alive. Excellent! Perhaps time for a 'minority' forum on HHAD entitled something along the lines of: e.g. 'Gay Hua Hin' ? Could hardly hurt anything or anyone, doncha think? Forums are always ~ by default ~ " read it if you're interested " anyway. Thanks to Sealcat ......

Voted with the 6 month option, but it's actually 8 months out of the year rather than 6 (no better time option). My dear old folks are getting pretty old (and more than half-way ~ but charmingly ~ insane) so I have to be back in Canada for at least 4 months out of any year to help out with their car...

The Bangkok Art & Cultural Centre ...

Just to get a few wiffs of good 'strong' air (as opposed to the ridiculously clean stuff floating around in Hua Hin), and to try and forget for a few days the horrors of my Great Shrinking Pension, we took in the new Art & Cultural Centre in Bangkok the other day. Foolishly expecting loads of Th...

Getting exercise will sure help, no matter how the Happy Dudes here advise to avoid it. My partner and I (well, sometimes just me :D ) go running in the morning 3 to 5 times a week ~ never less than 3, rarely 6. At 6AM (traffic no problem) head south out Petchkasem Rd for 3 miles or so ... turn arou...
