Re: Different Fuel Grades - How to Choose
Over the last year the price differential between 91 and 95 has come down to only a few satang at PTT. I seem to recall that 95 has a higher calorific value and thus would give more MPG (or less litre/100km). The current difference of about 20-30 satang is less than 1% on the price of 91. Anyone hav...

Re: Thailand to introduce compulsory travel insurance/tourist tax
According to the BK post, the 300 baht will provide 500k of medical insurance. Sounds like a good deal. Will be cheaper to do a quick in and out to Laos/Cambodia/Vietnam than buy an insurance policy.

Re: New Year - Amazing Hua Hin bar raids/closures
Apart from the intercontinental at 10pm.we (on the beach) saw no organised (hotel) fireworks at all. From the beach, we could see a full set of fireworks from cha am at 12.00. just as big as it has been at any time in the last 10 years. But, they.are.petchaburi province where things seem to be a lot...

Re: New Year - Amazing Hua Hin
I had a great time on 102 last night, surely by now even people with the most severe learning difficulties will have learnt to avoid 80/94/binta after 9pm if they want a hassle free drink. 102/112/106/takiab all have places that are under the radar Not sure casual tourists know the ins and outs not...

New Year's Eve entertainment and fireworks
Has anyone heard or seen any info as to what is or isn't going ahead this year ? Are the hotel's still doing fireworks ? Is there an extension on opening times ? Last year the beach was only half as busy as usual and while centara and Hilton did not do fireworks, the intercontinental, holiday inn an...

On Thursday night the centara would not serve us wine with food, but today I get beer in the bottle with no food .

Re: Bars closed/Now reopening?
(post by myself copied here as maybe a better thread) Cha-Am can sell alcohol (legally) in restaurants from Dec 1st. Hua Hin can't. According to Surf 102.5, the authorities there are encouraging bars to apply for restaurant licenses (!!). I wonder where the tourists (whether thai or from overseas) w...

Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
Interesting conversation in HH hospital. I had my first AZ in Bangkok and wanted to transfer the second jab to HH next week. I had gone to floor 8.9.10 in the car park and it is all stripped out. No people. Nothing. I asked at reception in the main building and was told that unless you had already r...

Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
Pete, I think calling it herd immunity is a misnomer. The vaccine does not stop you getting covid, or stop you passing it on to others. What the vaccine does is greatly reduce the chance of having a serious illness - I.e. being hospitalised. It may reduce the severity of the covid you pass on to oth...

Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
Can i get my second dose of AZ there ? I am part of the BCCT group who have to wait 12 weeks until mid november and am supposed to go to Bangkok which seems silly if i can get it in HH. I sent an email to BCCT a couple of weeks ago but had no response.

Re: Thai household debt deeper than ever
Dont forget the tax cuts are the only on imported alcohol, which the average Thai never drinks. I suspect that the increased consumption of imported alcohol and tobacco will mean the loss in tax revenue will be very low, or may even lead to an increase in tax revenue from that source. Wine consumpti...

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
Very good article (quite long) in.BK post about why testing has gone down so much from 70l.a month ago to 40k now. Part of it below. "Are there solutions to save the bankrupted healthcare system (and government)? Instead of finding money to pay for necessary expenses, the government opts to cut...

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
Cases may be going down, but so is the amount of testing. Whereas a couple of months ago it was about 75,000 a day, it is now down to 48,000 a day. I wonder if the 2 things are linked :-) https://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinion/2173871/life-returning-to-normal-but-for-how-long- [ 20210830_092037...
