Last time I went to said tavern was a couple of months ago because the wife wanted a steak, so fine. Food was OK but the service charge was a bit cheesey, but as said that might have gone now. Agree with kendo about this thread being unusual.

To be honest with you Dawn , I don't think the Thais know what's going on half the time with what supposed to be happening. If something doesn't suit a school or university, then there are plenty of ways round it for them. Sure, a lot of this stuff must be decided locally, based on what can be gotte...

Sorry to go back on a point but would like to mention something about Dawn's point about the days of 'backpacker' teachers with KSR degrees are over. Not so sure about that, if you ever meet some( not all ) agency teachers from BKK with a 'degree' in education that can't string a sentence together, ...

A bit patronising HHTel, just a suggestion.

Monopolies and all that, why not a bit of change, agarn.com has it's faults, unless you're a fully signed up member, but I forgot that being constructive is a problem when you're just tapping in keys.

Good point SJ, maybe the problem is with the Thai MoE. It's a bit of a leviathan that resembles a T-Rex on steroids from the jurassic period. Change is slower than evolution.

Glad they haven't sorted it out properly. I enjoy the fact that there is so many baht in the pound. If they got their act together, many of us would have to move someplace else, suppose that's why we come, it's good for us too. Wherever you go, it's always the pros vs the cons and here the pros outw...

Teaching in LOS and all things teaching related.

OK everyone, just a thought, Why is there no teaching forum and things related? Maybe there's a good answer for it that I'm missing, so feel free to enlighten me, and if there was said forum, would you guys post topics, I would. Just that, so many of us teach and so many that are new to Thailand con...

Disturbingly , these types are everywhere. I think they come to places like here because they can't pull that crap back where they come from and are so supersilious, insecure and bitter about everything, the only place they can safely let it out is at a bank in a third world country on a women that...

One of the reasons they get a hard time in Thailand is because the Thais view them as cheap labour, can speak better English than the Thais but cost only half what a white-skinned farang costs (sad but true) . The Thais also know that they can earn more money here, even under the present situation, ...

Again, agree with VS . The CELTA is more about methodology than grammar, there is a section on grammar and you would be wise to swot-up a bit on it before you go on the course(I'm not suggesting you memorise Martin Parrot), just brush up a bit. The course is basically about a book by Jeremy Harmer c...

Agree with VS and others, do a CELTA, it's more widley recognised and generally given more credit internationally than the others. I did mine in Bangkok too at ECC(who have now moved from Siam Square to just down the road), who, it is mostly agreed upon do the best CELTA courses. True, people do fai...

Steve G, the second hand pickup garages are starting to over-flow with new models that have been repossessed and they can't sell.

You may well get what you want very soon. :D

It's very interesting to read these posts and many have valid points. Roel has a point and so does Big Boy , but I think Jockey was getting close to 'hitting the nail on the head', depends on which type of farang you are, we are not all the same, and if we went home, then we would all be in drastica...
