Re: Looking For New Tablet
Thanks guys. I'm currently looking at Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ 5G 8/128GB (top end) and Samsung Galaxy S12+ Tablet {12GB RAM + 512GB ROM} Smart Tablet (lower end). Both seem to easily meet my very modest needs, plus an awful lot more. Would any 'expert' like to comment? I am a virtual novice on Andro...

Re: Looking For New Tablet
We use Ipads for documentation at work and even the new ones of those use C type connectors. I believe pretty much all devices do so these days. Just explaining my issues that I've experienced with the Lenovo - i.e. not recognising external drives/those via USB to C type Adaptors.... Have you used ...

Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
I haven't tried it but I walked past there recently and as you say, it's in that "new" Family Mart which is quite a large property.I think it's in the old family mart that was refurbished a few years ago
I found it because I was looking for a convenience store!

Re: Chiang Mai Listed Where Couple Can Retire for US$1,500/month
From International Living, the people who originally came out with this idea; https://internationalliving.com/countries/thailand/chiang-mai-thailand/ Here’s an example of a monthly budget for a couple living in Chiang Mai: Expense U.S. $ Rent (two-bedroom house) $496 Electricity $105 Gas & Water...

^If life was that cheap in Thailand, I would have retired ten years ago!

Yes, 1,500 USD is only slightly more than what I pay for rent in Luxembourg city and my studio apartment is too small for two people.Where you'll save compared to the west is on accommodation.

Re: Chiang Mai Listed Where Couple Can Retire for US$1,500/month
This article, ironically from last year, explains the problem and why nothing ever gets done about it: How Chiang Mai became the world’s most polluted city https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/4/12/how-chiang-mai-became-the-worlds-most-polluted-city “The problem is very much tied to the big agricultu...

Re: Has Your Food Shopping Increased?
....... We don't eat out that often because we don't like all the sugar that goes into local restaurant/takeaway food, which is also often cooked with msg and nasty palm oil (but that's all food for another thread.) For sure, healthy eating can be expensive. In Luxembourg they have a chain of small...

Re: Has Your Food Shopping Increased?
:offtopic: this thread is about FOOD SHOPPING - not restaurants which we know are cheaper in Thailand because they don't have the high rents/overheads/taxes/regulations/hygiene standards/staff wages/etc..... Yes but because restaurants are so cheap in Thailand, I hardly do any food shopping compare...

Re: Has Your Food Shopping Increased?
In general the 'cost of living' is much cheaper in Thailand even for 'farang' food. Tell me anywhere in the UK where you can get a full English for the same price as here. I have no complaints. That's the biggest difference to me, when I'm in Europe, I eat out in restaurants two or three times a mo...

^CJ seem to be one of the main suppliers of Carabao branded beer, certainly it's where my local bar in Hin Lek Fai gets it from.

Re: Travel: Asia & Further Afield
^I hope to get to Strasbourg for a weekend this year as it's not too far away for me.
I did once visit many years ago but I only had a couple of hours there as I was driving across Europe at the time.
