Re: The speed of a heart attack
Firstly.. My condolences to you HHTel on the untimely passing of your dear sis. Last year I was diagnosed with Atrial fibrillation...(uneven heart beat). Seemingly it is quite common in today's society, and I am now on daily blood-thinners to reduce the likelyhood of clots forming... But according t...

Re: Flying to/from Thailand, latest updates
So...I finally made it back yesterday! Here's a quick summary of my time coming thru' Swampy... * Our Emirates flight was the ONLY plane that was docked airside at midday. * There were 10 'Covid desks' set out before immigration and lots of chairs lined up for folk to sit & wait.. (the area was ...

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
OK, so looking on the various Thai forums here on the net there has been loads & loads of posts/pages in relation to obtaining this Thailand Pass. Yes I got mine within a day, Yes I think just been granted my Non O visa the day before may have swayed things a little.. BUT.. May I just add a coup...

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
I applied for my Non 0 in the UK 8 days ago, and not a single sign of confirmation except for my application being in the 'proccessing' stage if I check my E-visa page.. I will give it till this time next week (11+ working days) then will e-mail/ring the London Embassy... On the plus side I've had n...

Re: Bars Soi 94
I agree about the death of Binta.. It was not the money coming in from the customers, it was what had to go out each month, and increased alarmingly year by year! Anyone hoping to open a new bar in town has a good choice of 2nd hand bar-furniture if the closed shutters of Binta gives away the closur...

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
So..The country has only been opened up for a coupla days now, but what I am seeing on various sites are the growing reports of the PCR tests taken once you arrive at your AQ/SHA hotel taking well over 24 hrs for a result to come back..! So wait a mo..1 guy had his test taken at 7.30 am, by hospital...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues
So, I decided to pull my finger out & crack on with my 90 day Non O visa application. Now my plan (cunning as always) was to book my flight for mid-Dec..plenty of time to sort things one would presume. Well, farce #1 is the webpage for London's Thai Embassy...It just had me going round & rou...

Re: Soi 80 after Covid?
Sorry this is not about Soi 80 bars, but... After being linked to a bar down Bintabaat for a good 22 years the wife has decided to keep it closed! On the announcement that the bars may well be opening again next month....The (greedy) Thai/Chinese landlady gave/offered my missus the new monthly rates...

Re: Binthabat/karaoke Areas
The rental on the small/round bars in Wonderland were set at 9,000b/month for the 1st 3 months, jumping to 12,000 from then on.. I do not know of any other 'hidden' expenses that may have to be paid..? IF W/L can keep it's customers, and the bars can thrive (without hiking the prices to much) then t...

Re: Binthabat/karaoke Areas
Folk are very quick to knock Binta's bar owners for charging 100b for small beers, but when the greedy landlords/landladies are hiking up your rent/key-money every damn year, the bars have no option but to charge these prices. Yes Soi 80 has cheaper beer etc because many own the bar, or are still pa...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues
I have as yet not heard any confirmation about the UK's NHS issuing any form of 'Vaccine Passport'..In fact quite the reverse.. all the reports I've read say there will be no passports issued! So where does that leave UK tourists wishing to visit Thailand? Are there any other 'Western; nations that ...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues
PeteC mentioned that for many Europeans when it comes to their next holiday they may well look closer to home.. Spain for example. I know a couple who ran a good bar on Menorca, and they said prior to the Covid outbreak... Spain (& it's islands) had record tourist figures 6 years running because...
