Yet India’s decision to revive plans for the trilateral highway, part of an ambitious 1,360-kilometer (845 mile) crossing to link northeastern India with ma...

2 Thai ex-PMs acquitted of abusing power in quelling protest

"BANGKOK (AP) — A Thai court acquitted two former prime ministers of abuse of power on Wednesday in a case involving the deadly dispersal of an anti-government protest in 2008. Re: Medical Insurance in Thailand or anywhere for that matter

I simply kept 1m baht in a bank account to cover medical expenses. I don't know if things have changed in the last 3 years, but then that amount would pretty much cover any illness, surgery, or hospital stay. My wife had surgery and was in a good Bangkok hospital for nearly a week and it cost less ...

Re: Medical Insurance in Thailand or anywhere for that matter

I spoke with a popular insurance agency in Hua Hin about health insurance when I was there and they did indeed warn that most companies could deny claims for pre-existing conditions but they said they couldn't say whether it would happen or not as it would be decided on a case by case basis. I have ...

Not making it: Thailand's economy

"South-East Asia’s second-largest economy surprised analysts today, reporting a slip in industrial activity. Once a pillar of growth, Thailand’s export-oriented industrial economy has been sliding sideways for years. Creeping de-industrialisation began in 2010, when manufacturing’s share of GDP was ...

Re: Tourist crackdown: tourist visa holders being asked to show 20,000 baht in cash entering Thailand

In my opinion it would seem more of a deterrent aimed at local Asians, Cambodian, Viet, Laos, Myanmar.
