Re: What do they sell at Burma border market?

Thanks Barry and Jaime, the reason I asked was that one of the guys who runs a place in Bangsaphan told me he got the stuff for his guesthouse now restaurant from DSK, but it was nothing like the very solid, very rustic, impressive looking stuff I saw in the 'new' market, hence the question. I guess...

Re: What do they sell at Burma border market?

I visired 3 times about a year ago (from Bangsaphan). Loved it and did as Barry says, morning at the market and pm in Ao Manao or Prachap Town - loved that as well! My impression is furniture and orchids/plants are the mainstay of the market. Can I ask a further question about the furniture - before...

Re: Premier League 2010-2011

Sometimes I wonder about scouse fans! On the way to work this morning, here in a wet southern England, I was listening to five live (beeb) and throughout L'poo's problems they have dragged this guy on for comment, he runs one of their supporters clubs - his view on the game v Blackpool? Wrong team, ...

Re: Premier League 2010-2011

you kind of answered the point in question  anyone can be a great coach or trainer when you have a squad of multi million pound players :| different kettle of fish when you have to 'work' with limited resources, on a shoestring budget  I agree with you to a point - but its not always th...

Re: Premier League 2010-2011

How much do you rate Steve Clarke Caller? Dalglish has appointed him, I hear he's a great coach. Well he's a Chelsea legend for a start! Wise move from Kenny, he was with Ranieri (spelling) before Mourinho joined. The great one stated he would review all the staff, meet with them, see what they do ...

Re: Tea Time?

........ I have never knowingly eaten eel as a consequence. You then have to try the way the Japanese prepare eel if you haven't already. It is really good stuff. You can get it in Japanese restaurants here in Thailand also. Story and photo below. Pete  http://japanesefood.about.com/od/seaf...

Re: 2010 tourist visitors exceeded expectations...

Maybe the guy that provided the tourist stats should have a go at the crime reduction ones!

What I don't get is that all you here from the farang forums is how the numbers are down, If all from asia, where do they go?

Targets like that are easy to achieve, just change the way things are recorded. The UK has been doing it for years.

Re: Tea Time?

Saturday morning, eels, mash and liqour (parsley sauce, home made). *shudders* Yes, that's what I thought as well. I never ate them. I used to be dragged into the pie and eel shops scattered around the North End Road in Fulham (all long gone) and they would be swimming around in buckets on the floo...

Re: Premier League 2010-2011

NB to Baa Baa, this is not sarcastic post, but a genuine enquiry: Why did he leave in the first place? I suspect you know he resigned in 1991 on health grounds, widely reported as stress. But since then he's had many years out of the game before returning to Liverpool in 2009 in an academy/ambassad...

No idea now as I take my tea black.

But in the days when I did use milk, it went in first.

Re: Tea Time?

Of course, as a loyal Government Servant, I don't get a tea or coffee break whilst at work. Such luxuries were withdrawn about 30 years ago. That sounds about right to me, but the plus side is I wear the office carpet down on my hourly or so meander up to where the always on-tap boiling water...
