Re: Monkeys in Hua Hin Neighborhoods?
Even as far back as when I lived in Hua Hin (moved to the U.S. in 2014) we had a large one on the roof of our two story house who jumped to the roof of the detached garage and because two dogs were on the ground going crazy barking up at him he got mad and nearly tore a section of rain gutter off th...

Re: Amazing Nature
Tiny little hummingbirds migrate from Canada/US to Mexico/Central America and back each year. Imaging how many little beats those buzzing wings do on a trip like that!

Re: The Home of Banter
Just looked at the Intercontinental website and one bar listed said "come enjoy a scotch and cigar" Guess I will have to!! That's the place I was thinking about when I wrote Sheraton earlier in this thread. That's the hotel near the flyover, correct? Memory must be failing me at 71 years ...

"A Student Just Proved Paradox-Free Time Travel Is Possible Time travel is deterministic and locally free, a new paper says—resolving an age-old paradox. This follows recent research observing that the present is not changed by a time-traveling qubit. It's still not very nice to step on butterf...

Re: The public health crisis you may not know about: snakebites
I've always had the belief that very few snakes are aggressive. That they fear us more than we fear them. They'll usually only attack if they're cornered without an escape route. I've swam in waters quite heavily populated by sea snakes. In the Persian Gulf for instance, I'd swim off the beach and ...

Re: The public health crisis you may not know about: snakebites
I don't know if it's to do climate change or what but even here in a residential neighborhood in the largest city in North Carolina there seems to be a plague of snakes this year. A lot of Copperheads which are poisonous. Several people and lots of dogs bitten so far. The cost for the anti venom tre...

Re: The Home of Banter
Isn't there one of those cigar places in the Sheraton Hua Hin? If not, I think there was when I was there. There was another one (place that sold a lot of different cigars) behind the Watt in the Binta area just around the corner from the beach road 7/11.

These giant Asian hornets are the stuff of nightmares and are 5-6 cm long with a chip on their shoulder to match. They sting repeatedly, are attracted to stuff like the smell of a BBQ etc., releases a scent that attracts other hornets and have a big set of gnashers. Lots of folks get stung to death...

Thailand targets narco millions hidden in gold, steel and crypto
"Bangkok (AFP) - The downfall of a meth syndicate laundering tens of millions of dollars of drug money through Thai gold shops, oil and construction firms has cast rare light on the staggering scale of Asia's narco profits -- and the ruses used to hide them. Thailand is Southeast Asia's meth &q...
